The Golden Bull of 1098 was a golden bull issued by Emperor Charles II in 1098 which reorganized the Southern Kingdom of the Levantines as the Imperial Kingdom of Urcea and conveyed the title of King on the Julian dynasty. It is the constituting act which established Urcea as a cohesive political entity, and remains the foundational legal act on which the Kingdom is based. The Julian dynasty had been the most powerful political force within the Southern Kingdom since the unification of Urceopolis and Harren, the two realms which were fused by the golden bull and established as the two integral parts of the new Kingdom. Under the terms of the Golden Bull of 1098, all previous vassals of the Southern King of the Levantines were transferred to the new Apostolic King of Urcea, although in practice many continued to have considerably autonomy or effective imperial immediacy.
