Her parents were both schoolteachers, whom she credits for nurturing her abilities as an instructor and communicator. Beacon's first exposure to typing was during intermediate school, on typewriters produced by the state-owned Typographical Machine Works in [[Cities of Kiravia#Trár|Trár]]. Typing classes had only recently been introduced below the secondary-school level as part of Kiravian Union's latest quinquennial plan and were generally elective in nature.
