Syntax

- borough - this should be the lowest level of local government for the place where the station is situated.
- For England, refer to the hierarchical list of regions, counties and districts, and use the entry in the rightmost column.
- For Scotland, use the relevant council area
- For Wales, use the relevant principal area
In each case, use a wikilink, piped where necessary in order to hide text like "Metropolitan Borough of ", " (district)", etc. Examples:
|borough=Rutland
|borough=Bedford
|borough=Epping Forest
|borough=Highland
|borough=Bridgend
Optional fields
| image_name = Crewe station platform12.jpg | imagesize = 265px
The width is automatically set to 265px unless 'imagesize' is specified. For a consistent appearance, |imagesize=
should be omitted when the width/height ratio is between 1:1 and 2.65:1. For images whose width/height ratio is between 2.65:1 and 3:1, set |imagesize=x100px
; for images whose width/height ratio exceeds 3:1, set |imagesize=300px
; and for upright images (width/height ratio less than 1:1), set |imagesize=x265px
.
| caption = Crewe | owner = Network Rail | code = CRE | symbol = rail | dft_category = B
Note: if you enter a station code, the template will automatically link to National Rail Enquiries Live Departure Board.
If 'dft_category' is specified and is a valid category, then the appropriate subcategory of Category:Railway stations by Department for Transport category will be automatically set.

Note: either the 'usage' or the 'lowusage' fields may be used, but not both sets. For 'usage', figures should be expressed in millions, whilst for 'lowusage', figures should be in units. These rules also apply to 'int' and 'lowint'.
| coordinates = | gridref = SJ710547
Note: Use the coord template. Latitude must be present if longitude is present, and vice versa, and they should have the same number of decimal places (trailing zeroes are significant). Three decimal places gives an accuracy of 111 metres (364 ft), and four decimal places gives an accuracy of 11 metres (36 ft), so greater precision is unnecessary for something as large as a railway station. You should include the display= parameter to ensure the coordinates are shown correctly in the info box.
Start dates
One of:
| start = 2001 | starting = 2014 | years = 1861 | events = Opened
Note: use |start=
for stations already open, or |starting=
for stations not yet open. The word "Opened" or "Opening" (respectively) will be inserted automatically.

Microformats
The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the place-name and location parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia, or via a browser tool operated by a person, to (for example) add the subject to an address book. Within the hCard is a Geo microformat, which additionally makes the coordinates (latitude & longitude) parsable, so that they can be, say, looked up on a map, or downloaded to a GPS unit. For more information about the use of microformats on Wikipedia, please see the microformat project.
Sub-templates
If the place or venue has "established", "founded", "opened" or similar dates, use start date for the earliest of those dates unless the date is before 1583 CE.
If it has a URL, use URL.
Please do not remove instances of these sub-templates.
Classes
hCard uses HTML classes including:
- adr
- agent
- category
- county-name
- extended-address
- fn
- label
- locality
- nickname
- note
- org
- region
- street-address
- uid
- url
- vcard
Geo is produced by calling coord, and uses HTML classes:
- geo
- latitude
- longitude
Please do not rename or remove these classes nor collapse nested elements which use them.
Precision
When giving coordinates, please use an appropriate level of precision. Do not use coord's |name=
parameter.
