The Diamavyan alphabet consists of 9 vowels, 21 consonants, and the letter Ԓ which acts as both a vowel and a consonant. The alphabet also contains three digraphs which are formed if they are not immediately followed by an H.

  1. 1.0 1.1 Alternate pronunciation does not differ significantly from the standard pronunciation. Different sounds are made on a word by word basis, but the phonetic difference can really be heard and rarely matters.
  2. The letter I makes the [ˈe] sound when it or the vowel after it is immediately followed by an H.
  3. The letter I makes the [ˈɪ] sound when it or the vowel after it is not immediately followed by an H.
  4. The letter Ԏ makes the [ˈθ] when followed by a vowel. Ԏ also makes the [ˈθ] sound when preceded by a vowel when it is the last letter of the word.
  5. The letter Ԏ makes the [ˈð] when preceded by a vowel or when simultaneously preceded and followed by a vowel.
  6. The letter Ԏ does not need to abide by the previously stated conventions if the word is a loan word. For example, "Gѧԏik" ("Gothic" in English) makes the [ˈθ] sound despite being preceded and followed by a vowel.
