History

The Tierradorian Defense Forces, abbreviated as TDF, are the unified national military of the Tierradorian Woqalate. It consists of six service branches, the Tierrador Army, Tierrador Navy, Tierrador Air Force, Tierrador Marine Corps, Maritime Defense Authority, and Woqalate Guard. All six of these armed service branches are considered a vital part to the Tierradorian security forces.

Each of the different military services is assigned a role and domain. The Tierrador Army conducts ground operations, the Tierrador Air Force conducts air operations, while the Tierrador Navy and Marine Corps conduct maritime operations. The Tierrador Marine Corps are unique as they specialize in amphibious and maritime littoral operations in support of the Navy. While they are considered a part of the Tierrador Navy, the Marine Corps operate as a separate branch of the TDF. The Maritime Defense Authority and Woqalate Guard are both unique in that they specialize in ground, air, and maritime operations and are also considered law enforcement agencies. The modern Tierradorian Defense Forces were originally established in 677 AD, as the Qabóri Guard. The TDF has played a crucial role throughout Tierrador's modern history. The current organization of the TDF were created by Crown Order in 1893, two months before the Moscakee War. It also outlined the roles of the Homeland Security Office, its subordinate organizations, in which was the Tierradorian Defense Forces were listed as one. There has been limited amendments throughout its history, to reflect the modern and changing environment of modern war-fighting, national defense, and challenges to Tierradorian national security.

In comparison to other armed forces, the TDF is a relatively powerful force throughout South Crona. It further reiterates Tierrador's stance as a regional power in Crona, owing to its secure borders and strong allies. Historically, due to the TDF imposing a policy of mandatory universal conscription until 1977, the TDF was the largest force in Crona in terms of manpower. The Homeland Security Office's high budget of about $845 billion has allowed it to experiment with many major advancements in military technology, making it one of the most advanced and modern militaries in Crona. The TDF has been consistently ranked as one of the most powerful militaries in Crona and around the world.

History

Stated mission

As of 2035, the TDF's stated missions are as follow:

  • Insurance of Tierrador's border sovereignty
  • Safeguarding the interests of Tierrador and its neighbors
  • Protection of the sovereignty of Tierrador's immediate sphere of influence (Including Ceylonia, Porlos, and Istrenya)
  • Maintaining peace and stability throughout South Crona

Tierrador has consistently reiterated its military's position as active defense, meaning it has no interest of being an attacking party against another sovereign nation unless absolutely necessary. In this context, Tierrador would only engage in a defensive manner, in the event of a foreign attack on itself or on the signatory countries of the South Cronan Mutual Defense Treaty.

International stance

Being a key member of the League of Nations, Tierrador has dipped a hand into various international operations mostly in the late 20th century, providing assistance to various regions outside of its immediate sphere of influence in North Crona and Audonia, along with assisting in peacekeeping missions and combating illegal narcotics trades, piracy, human trafficking, mineral trafficking, and terrorism in Central Crona. In recent events, Tierrador joined the Burgoignesc-led Liberty Coalition in Operation Kipling in 1972, initially deploying 6,000 troops but upping that number to 24,000 after the end of the Songun Straits War.

More recently, the TDF played a hand in the Deluge, specifically in the military interventions towards the end of the long conflict. Tierrador partially commandeered Operation Kraken, in which a little over 160,000 TDF personnel poured into southeastern Varshan, along with playing a key role in the LoN Coalition's push into Stia-Dica, and the Fall of Anzo. Since then, Tierrador has offered to help with peacekeeping operations in post-Deluge Varshan, along with combating the Neo-Arzalist terrorist groups that lie within.

As part of the Central Vallosi War, the TDF enlisted the Tierrador Air Force to strike various cities in northern Almadaria, dealing a massive blow to the Almadarian supply lines and providing a massive advantage for Castadillaan forces in their ensuing invasion of the country. Following the end of the war, General Petró Aorisola suggested the involvement of Tierradorian forces in peacekeeping and nation-building operations in both Almadaria and ally Arona. These activities will be recognized as Operation New Ground.

Current operations

Currently, there are 56,000 TDF personnel stationed in six countries throughout the world.

South & Central Crona

The Tierrosphere is the most integral part to the TDF's overall strategy. Because of its status as a regional hegemon, Tierrador historically had been tasked with nation-building and mutual defense responsibilities over the nations of Ceylonia, Porlos, Istrenya, and Malentina. The TDF regularly conducts cooperative exercises with the armed forces' of the four aforementioned nations, along with holding twelve international military installations throughout the Tierrosphere, with five in Porlos, three in Ceylonia, and two each in Istrenya and Malentina. Tierrador had played a key role in building military power in the Tierrosphere. As of 2038, there are approximately 39,000 Tierradorian troops stationed in the four Tierrosphere vassals.

Since the end of the Final War of the Deluge, the TDF has increased its presence in Central Crona, specifically in Kelekona. Kelekona is home to various organized criminal groups that are responsible for the trafficking of humans, minerals, narcotics, and pirated goods. In recent years, the issue of illicit trafficking has further spilled into South Crona, much to the dismay of many right-wing leadership groups in the Tierrosphere. In 2034, the TDF launched Operation Mattress, which included the covert deployment of 620 peacekeepers into Kelekona to further deter cartel activity. Since then, that number had increased to 1400, with the tight grip on Kelekonan politics increasing due to the sharp rise in cartel activity.

Following Marío Atuukalat's victory in the 2038 Tierradorian general election, the policy regarding Kelekonan criminal activity had grown to be more aggressive, and Atuukalat's administration has made it clear of the consequences that their government's leniency on cartel activity could lead to.

Polynesia

Tierrador maintains military influence on the Polynesian region through its colonial holdings in Teschego and the Saukhin Islands. The TDF maintains various military installations in both commonwealths, with emphasis on the border between Teschego and Timbia, the sight of historical confrontations between the Qabóri Woqalate and Daxian-controlled Timbia.
