The Happu-class destroyer (DDM) is a class of Stenzan destroyer. Of the two destroyer classes in service with the Stenzan Navy, it is the oldest. These ships are the larger part of Stenza's general purpose fleet, being more capable than their frigate counterparts in taking on a veriety of roles. The Happu design, lacking any vertical launch systems, is more focused on anti-ship or anti-air operations, and lacks any proper land attack capability.

Design

The Happu-class was designed to replace in the 1980s to give the Stenzan navy a new anti-ship workhorse to augment the new Minanea-class frigate, with existing destroyers aging fast and being built on all-gun hulls converted to carry some sort of missiles. These destroyers were designed around two launchers of four supersonic anti ship missiles, having the SUPASM (SUPersonic Anti Ship missile) Mark II designed for them. The purpose of these ships was to fend off any large naval force threatening Stenzan waters with a barrage of missiles, with enemies like Burgundie being considered due to their involvement at Sudmoll.

Operational History

The two Happu-class ships being ready at the time fought in the 1984 Sudmoll Conflict, with Happu being credited with sinking a Burgoignesc Frigate. Aside from their service around Sudmoll, the Happu's have formed the back bone of Stenza's navy abroad, escorting larger formations or venturing out alone to represent Stenzan interests across the globe.
