August I was the Great Prince of Burgundie from 19041975, ruling the country during the Second Great War and Operation Kipling. He was a polarizing figure, as he represented the last of the old guard which was much loved by Burgoignesc conservatives, but he was very derided as holding the country back from full embracing the promise of the 20th century but liberals and progressives. He was an ardent orientalist and was responsible not only for the level of involvement that both Burgundie and Urcea had in Audonia in Operation Kipling, but also for opening up diplomatic and economic relations between Burgundie and Daxia.
