House de Bruce

The House de Bruce (Latin: Domus Bricius; Pelaxian: Casa de Brux; Reform Tainean: Kanai des Blous) is the current ruling house of Castadilla. Initially an Urcean noble house of Garánic, West Gothic, and Latinic origins, the de Bruces have played a significant role in the Catholic opposition to and the eventual destruction of the Protestant Union during the Great Confessional War in Levantia. The current senior legitimate line of the house, known as the Great House of the XXX, has since the 20th Century been centred around both Alstin with the arrival of Patton de Bruce in 1932, and Castadilla with the election of Marion de Bruce as Delepasian Emperor (now Casradillaan Emperor) in 1976. Asides from its Vallosi titles, the de Bruces also hold three lesser titles in Levantia; two ducal, and one comital.

The house was founded in Carolina, a region in Levantia currently within Urcea, with the first head of the house being Robert de Bryce, the youngest son of XXX, and would go on to become one of the more historically significant noble houses with the rise of Jacob de Brus during the Great Confessional War in the 16th Century. Throughout the 17th and 18th Centuries, the de Bruces would migrate and become a major noble family in Hendalarsk, earning three noble titles under the Hendalarskian crown. It would not be until the extinguishing of the more senior XXX line in the late 18th Century that the de Bruces would return to Urcea where they remained throughout the entirety of the 19th Century. In 1932, Patton de Bruce, the heir to the then-Custóir of the XXX, had fled Urcea to escape an arranged marriage. He would ultimately settle in Alstin where he subsequently married to Gladys Wilcox, herself a scion of the prestigious Wilcox family, and fathered seven children. The eldest of Patton's children, Marion, would go on to be elected as the Delepasian Emperor in 1976, with the subsequent title of Castadillaan Emperor remaining with the de Bruces ever since.
According to the Constitution of Castadilla, only legitimate adult descendants of Marion de Bruce (Maximilian I), regardless of gender are eligible to be nominated as a candidate for the imperial title in the grand election.
