Treaty of Gaoth
The Treaty of Gaoth, also called the First Treaty of Gaoth or the Five-Eight Treaty, was a peace treaty signed between General _____ of Fiannria and Rih Rethys V of Faneria concluding the Fourth Kin War between their respective countries. It was signed in the titular city on August 8, 1888. Rethys was forced to sign under duress, being a prisoner of war at the time. The treaty was signed by Faneria to secure the release of its sovereign and the end of the war, which had turned sharply against it in September following the Rihs assumption of command of the Army of the North.

Effects
Public reaction to the Treaty in Faneria was extremely negative, leading directly to the 1888 Teindun Riots and an attempted coup of the government. The Treaty was a major factor in the decline of Royal popularity, as it was percieved that Rethys V had sold the country out and ceded territories with a majority Fhainnin populace to save himself. The Treaty specifically brought up the issue of the Throne's ability to make legislation and conduct diplomacy unilaterally and the need for broader representation, fuelling the rise of Fhainnin republican movements.
In Fiannria, the Treaty was seen as a reclamation of national honor, as the country had won a defensive war against a power which had, until that point, repeatedly battered Fiannria while its allies in the Holy Levantine Empire stood by idly. The victory in the Fourth Kin War galvanized Fiannrian nationalism and played a part in its support of the Deric Republic prior to Faneria's invation in 1935.
