Daguo is the capital city of the province of Yang and a historic summer capital of Daxia during the imperial period. The city was founded in 1112 by the southern Wuxia noble clan on the banks of the Qingxie river. Its position made it a riverine trade station on the southern marshes and the city developed into an economic center of some importance. Emperor Mong of the Zhong dynasty put down a local rebellion and executed the entire Wuxia clan as punishment, the city was from then on part of the royal appanages. Mong's successor, Ting-Ol designated the city as a summer capital and began construction of the Palace of Columns.
