Irasur Mérovin is a Kiravian former politician who served as Prime Executive of the Kiravian Federacy from 211XX to 21198.
Background
Irasur Mérovin was born in Śadevârsten, Meridian Countyship, Xirya, and was raised in the nearby towns of Irglūrēn and Iselradaret. His parents, Irasur and Sekatya Mérovin, were members of the Saskem ethnosocial group who had migrated to Xirya from the impoverished mountain community of Ritēholden in Kensonia State. At the time of Irasur the younger's birth, the family was working-class, with both parents working multiple jobs, though the Mérovins gradually attained financial security during his adolescence.
Politics
Xiryan Stanora
Federal Stanora
Bursar of the Federal Executive
Prime Executive
Mérovin's agenda as Prime Executive was largely a continuation of Rénkédar's: Mérovin saw through continued privatisation and deregulation of the economy, trade liberalisation, reform of the Federal bureaucracy, and greater engagement with the outside world.
Plane Crash and Resignation
Personal and Post-Political Life
Mérovin married Víoleta Alvarín, a Catholic hotel manager of Celigtem ancestry from Saar-Isenkâr, in 21XX. The couple bore two children, Imiara Mérovin (born 21XX) and Arkan Mérovin (born 21XX). The Mérovins acquired a reputation for being very protective of their privacy, making very few public appearances together and frequently travelling by means other than official aircraft or motorcade. They were rarely present in Kroveniren Hall as a family, and periodically relocated their children among their various properties in Xirya and Cascada to reduce their public profile.
Mérovin was known for his calm, reserved, and conciliatory demeanour, and was, by his own admission "a deplorable diplomat", both due to his willingness to compromise and his shaky command of English. The Prime Executive was tutored in English on-the-job by foreign service officer Séamus Tíronian, and spoke the language in a slow and deliberate manner, with a heavy accent.
Coming from a casually religious upbringing (the Mérovins irregularly attended Archepiscopal, independent Christian, Rurican, and Iduan services), Mérovin identified himself for most of his adult life as an "irreligious theïst" and a "philosophical Christian", and to the foreign press as a "Deïst" or "Christian Deïst" who affirmed the existence of God and the ethical teachings of Christianity and the Coscivian religions, but was skeptical towards sacraments, miraculous claims, Providence, and soteriology. He was baptised by a Methodist minister in Faracôler, Xirya ahead of his wedding to Víoleta in a Catholic ceremony, but had no prior or subsequent involvement with Methodism. He allowed his children to be raised in their mother's faith. However, following his near-death experience in the 211XX plane crash and retirement from politics, Mérovin began to approach religion with greater interest, and ultimately converted to Catholicism in 21202.
Mérovin resides with his wife and son on a small estate 45 minutes from Sevron, the Xiryan capital.
