Adastra High School is a public high school located in the city of Sierra, Verona, Cartadania that serves grades 9 through 12 as part of the Sierra Independent School District. It is located on Cypress Boulevard within the city's Central district. It is currently the largest school in Sierra ISD by student population and one of the largest in the downtown area in terms of building size and capacity.

History

Adastra opened in fall 2008 with grades 9, 10, and 11, and then added 12th grade in 2009. In June 2010, the first students graduated from the school. Adastra relieved Ainsley, Independence, and Liberty High School. The opening allowed for Ainsley High School to return to a traditional calendar. Prior to having the name Adastra High School, the school was known as Sierra ISD High School #87.

The school had previously had a variety of after school classes within an after school program from October 2008 to June 2010. The after school classes were film production, music, urban art, sound art, and etc. By September 2010, the after school program at Adastra cancelled the after school classes, leaving only after school tutoring instead. As of March 2015, the programs have since been reinstated.

The first principal of Adastra High School, Marianne Gaines, retired in June 2010. She was replaced by Giuseppe Hiali in August of the same year.
