The Armed Forces of Arcerion are the unified armed services of the Arcer Army, Royal Arcerion Naval Service, Arcer Air Force, and Arcerion Special Operations Command. It was created as an institution after the end of the Second Great War with efforts to continue with professionalization of the Armed Services. It is one of four component parts to the Arcerion National Security Enterprise.
The Armed Services have played an important role throughout Arcerion's history, especially its modern history. The Armed Forces were created by an Act of Parliament in 1949, shortly before the outbreak of the Istrenyan Crisis. It also outlined the roles of the Ministry of Defense, its subordinate organizations, which was to include the Armed Forces of Arcerion. There has been limited amendments throughout its history, to reflect the modern and changing environment of modern warfighting, defense, and national security issues.
The Prime Minister is the commander-in-chief writ large within the Armed Forces, however due to the regent in absentia status of the Ardmori Crown, the Arcer Senate has the vested powers of the Crown Regent and may reverse decisions under existing laws should the need arise.
The Arcer Armed Forces is a mid-sized force in comparison to other Occidental nations and similar sized countries in Crona, owing to its role as a middle power and its secure borders and strong allies. There has never been conscription, although the topic has been discussed in the Confederate Parliament during the Second Great War due to casualties sustained in The Cape.
The Arcer Armed Forces is considered one of the most modern and capable militaries in Southern Crona, with one of the highest budgets and a strong procurement program to ensure it has new equipment. It has significant defensive capabilities, and with the 2022 Confederate Memo on defence has continued to shift and adapt its national security strategy to focus on power projection and expeditionary capabilities. The Armed Forces has a number of single-service or joint-service bases within Arcerion, and several foreign bases for aircraft, armoured vehicles, and naval vessels in the Polynesian Sea.
The Armed Forces of Arcerion is organized around the Songun Staff System, a method for dividing armed services, civilian bureaucrats and civil servants, and different military functions by their respective role.

Arcer Army
The Arcer Army is the principal land component in the Arcerion Armed Forces and is both the largest, and the oldest service. It draws its lineage from early militia and irregular units in the Ardmori colony of Kurst, and within a few years began professionalizing into regular army Regiments. The Arcer Army employs over 800,000 personnel spread across both Regular and Reserve components. The Army is responsible for land warfare operations.
The Army is under the command of the Commander, of the Army General Staff who acts as the head of the service branch and sets both branch policy as well as strategic directives. The Army's second command is the Deputy Commander, Army General Staff, and both the Deputy and Commander are advised by the Sergeant-Major of the Army, the most senior non-commissioned member of the land service.
The primary function of the army is to conduct domestic and expeditionary operations within the land domain, in coordination with the other armed services as part of a joint military. The Army's principal mission rests in destroying an opponent's land power, seizing key terrain and objectives, occupying territory, and destroying the means of an adversary to wage war. The Army places an emphasis on combined arms operations using a multitude of different vehicles, units, and tactics to achieve this.
