Emporia, officially the City of Emporia (Cartadanian: Cidade de Empória) is a city in the Commonwealth of Verona. It is located in Andina County within Verona's Palm Coast region. Emporia is the third-largest city in the county, with a population of about 184,213 at the end of 2021. Though a small city by Palm Coast standards, the city is very well known across the state, primarily due to it being the location of the University of Verona system's flagship campus, UVA Emporia. The city stands out amongst the rest of the palm coast in it's conservative nature, with the city government being more right-leaning. Despite this, the city still operates more in line with its left-leaning neighbor cities, like Buenaventura.

Education

UVA Emporia campus.

Emporia is home to the University of Verona, Emporia, the oldest college in the University of Verona system. It enrolls 54,291 students as of the 2022-2023 school year, which makes it the fourth largest of the UV campuses after UVA Sierra, UVA Sevilla, and UVA Southern, respectively. The Verona Commonwealth University, Buenaventura is located south of Emporia in Buenvaventura, the county seat.

K-12 education

The city is served by the North Central Independent School District, which is the third-largest school district in the county. It enrolls 108,214 in it's 90 schools and also serves the cities of Arroyo, Mariada, and Sacristán. Due to the size of the former countywide school district and the localized needs in its wards, some residents had eluded to dissolution of the countywide district in favor of smaller districts. The Ward 2 cities had proposed the "North Central Independent School District", which would follow the boundaries of the ward. As of 2022, it was merely an idea amongst residents and had not had any legal status changes, but beginning with the 2025 school year, the Department of Education approved the dissolution of Andina Consolidated ISD into seven smaller districts, one of which was NCISD.
