The Farravonian Counterrevolution (Kiravic Coscivian: Farravoniax Dutradaśirakdyra, West Coast Marine Coscivian: Fhérwonoχʷʼ Qʰilisikʷʰeku) was an armed conflict between the newly-proclaimed Kiravian Union and forces loyal to the previous constitution of the Kiravian Federal Republic over control of the Farravonia region on the Atrassic coast of Great Kirav. Although the geography of the region initially sheltered the Federalists as the new Kirosocialist government struggled to find its footing in the early months of its rule, logistical and organisational difficulties hampered the Federalists' efforts at mounting a serious military challenge in the region, leading to their eventual capitulation after a tight economic blockade.

Background

Spanning most (or all - definitions vary) of the western coast of Great Kirav, Farravonia is a latitudinally vast region of forested coastal mountains, branching inlets, long and fertile inland valleys, and thousands of offshore islands. On its eastern flank, it is separated from the rest of Great Kirav by the several high mountain ranges of the Western Highlands. At the time of the Counterrevolution, there were not yet any highways crossing all the way through the Western Highlands, with the only commercial overland linkages being several railways through the mountains. There had never been much enthusiasm for the Kirosocialist movement in the region, which was much less industrialised than the northern, eastern, and central parts of the island continent, and which had [land tenure system]. The region's central valleys formed the Kiravian Rosary Belt, where Levantine Catholic devotion and institutions were particularly strong and the populace heeded papal warnings against the revolutionary socialist movements of the day.

Opening Stages

Upon the promulgation of the Constitution of the Kiravian Union, numerous state, territorial, and colonial governments refused to recognise the new order. Those in the eastern half of the country were quickly dispatched, and deeper in the Western Highlands mobs of pro-Kirosocialist miners and loggers occupied territorial capitals and declared workers' soviets. In Farravonia, however, the state governments of Ixikéa-Qihuxia, Venèra-Inokarya, Kaskada, Ilfenóra, Metrea, and Argévia, and the territorial government of Lataskia successfuly defeated attempts by Kirosocialist sympathisers to seize the state machinery and instead declared their allegiance to the FRK Continuity Government and Rump Stanora in Æonara.

Aftermath

Remnants of the Catholic & Republican Army and independent local resistance groups would continue to harrass Kirosocialist troops for another year or so, but failed to prevent the Kiravian Union from consolidating its control over Farravonia.
