Pomewa Joya (1930-2001) was an Empress of Metzetta and the matriarch of the House of Joya. She was Emperor number 168 from 1995 until 2001. She was born during the reign of Emperor Jan-Hu as the eldest child of future Emperor Seozwi. She had only one child; her successor as Emperor, Rindo. Pomewa was her dynastic family name, but rarely used; she was simply referred to by almost everyone using her given name of Joya, or even more simply as The Empress. She was a popular monarch who made a concerted effort to bring the Imperial Family closer to the people, in contrast to her mostly aloof predecessors. She is the most recent female to hold the position of Emperor.
Early Life
Joya was born in the Imperial Household Hospital, Hanzeong.
In 1965 she visited Urcea to attend the wedding of her sister Haeki into the House de Weluta.
Marriage and Family
Joya had one son, Rindo.
Reign
Joya was an advocate for feminist issues and established the Order of Dalrae to recognise the significant contributions made by women, as well as the Supreme Order of Taeyang which she envisioned as a powerful diplomatic tool.
A champion of Metzettan traditions, she instituted Mettubok Day to encourage Metzettans to wear their traditional dress, fearing the custom would die out and become lost forever.
Death
Empress Joya passed away in 2001.

As Joya suffered from a fear of flying, all state visits she made were undertaken overland or by boat.
