Qabór, officially the City of Qabór, is the capital and largest city of both the Commonwealth of Las Rozas and the Qoyalet of Tascati. With a little over 11 million residents, Qabór is the second-largest city in Tierrador, behind only Taisgol, which is the nation's capital. Despite this, Qabór is regarded as the largest cultural center in the country, and even in South Crona. It is also the commercial, financial, and cultural center of Las Rozas, with over half of the commonwealth's population residing within its city limits. Similar to Taisgol, Qabór is organized as both the principal city and the surrounding metropolitan area. The City of Qabór, which encompasses the 68 square kilometer downtown sector of the city only has a population of 3.1 million, however that statistic is almost never used in official documents. Qabór is also part of the Wečas Mountains Megalopolis, which is the most densely-populated regions in the country, and includes other major cities including Taisgol, Ambaqwe, Wečas-Santiago, Sačia, and Anders.

Qabór is situated on the northeast corner of Las Rozas, adjacent to the Songun Sea and at the foot of the Wečas Mountains. It covers an estimated area of 744 square kilometers, or about 287 square miles, and extends into four main Parishes; Qabór-Tedd, Qistáfa, Auntas, and Coricos parishes. Qabór-Tedd Parish is the most populous parish in Tierrador, with an estimated population of about 8.3 million inhabitants. The remaining parishes are mostly sparsely-populated suburban areas, with no more than 1 million inhabitants per parish. Owing to its position in the Pan-Qabóri civilization, including being the namesake of such, Qabór is the most-visited city in Tierrador, averaging over 37 million yearly visitors, mostly from all over South Crona and Polynesia.

Qabór was officially founded in 62 AD, as the principal city for members of the Qabóri Nation, which was considered the largest and most powerful indigenous tribe in South Crona at the time, in what became the Qabóri Reform. For the next five centuries, Qabór and the surrounding areas would become a key role in the Abio Wars, which saw the aforementioned Qabóri Nation fighting against the Abio Woqalate. In 677 AD, the Abio Woqalate had been defeated, and the Qabóri Woqalate, which was based in Qabór, took power over all of South Crona. Qabór was the principal city of South Cronan day-to-day activity for over 1200 years after that, consistently being regarded as the largest city in the known world at the time. Even following the Qabóri Coup d'Etat of 1911 and the rise of the Walakee State, Qabór would remain as the national capital until 1953, when Walakee leader Pedro Kintón would move the capital to Taisgol. Despite this, Qabór remained as a prominent cultural and economic center for Tierrador.

Qabór is a major railway, highway, maritime, and air transit hub, and is served by two major airports; Qabór-Aptanaía International Airport (which is the second-busiest airport in South Crona), and Qabór-Li Natkas International Airport. The city’s underground metro transit system, QMTA, serves more than 6 million passengers daily, making it the second-busiest rapid transit network in Tierrador, behind only Taisgol Metro Transit. It is also one of the oldest rapid transit systems in the world, opening in 1867, and it features 305 stops across 21 lines. Qabór also features two major railway stations; Qabór National Station, which is the 7th-busiest rail station in the world, serving 450 million passengers per year, and Ta’akítan Tusci. Qabór has one of the most sustainable transportation systems in the world.

Today, Qabór is known for its museums along with its architectural and cultural marvels, including the QBC Tower (the second-largest tower in Tierrador) and the Qabór Stock Exchange (one of two main stock exchanges in Tierrador). The Qabór Teklan is the largest of the Qabóri-era teklans (citadels), and historically served as the seat of government for the Qabóri Woqalate. The Atcasal is the most visited art museum in Tierrador, and one of the most visited in Crona. It features centuries worth of well-known art from the many different eras of Cronan history, with major emphasis on the Pan-Qabóri civilization and South Crona. It attracts 7 million visitors yearly. The Kostané Bay Market, which is situated on the coast of the Kostané Bay National Park, has existed for over 900 years, and served as a key location for international trade in the Songun Sea. The Kostané Bay Market is also adjacent to the Qabóri Trade Garden, which is home to the city’s OHL club, the Qabór Phoenix.

Etymology

The name “Qabór” has been the sole name of the city for close to 2,000 years. Originally, Qabór was derived from its earliest inhabitants, which were from the Qabóri Nation. The inhabitants designated the lands occupied by Qabór as the main city for their tribe, which is why they ultimately decided to name it after themselves. However, it is possible that the Qabóri Nation’s name would actually be derived from Qabór itself. As early as the 3rd century BC, alternative names would be used for the Qabóri Nation, with the most common being “Anbars.” The first instances of the tribe being referred to as the Qabóri would not occur until a few months following the establishment of the city. However, this does not provide a clear explanation as to where the name Qabór originated, therefore, most scholars agreed on the former.

History

Geography

Qabór has a total area of 744 square kilometers, in which 611 square kilometers of that number are considered land area and the remaining 131 square kilometers are water area. The city’s highest elevation is 122 meters above sea level, on the western outskirts of the city, and the lowest elevation is its coastal areas on the Songun Sea, measured at sea level. Its official elevation, measured in Downtown Qabór, is 33 meters above sea level. Qabór is situated next to multiple seaside establishments, including the Qabór National Harbor and the Kostané Bay Market, both situated on the Kostané Bay, which is an arm of the Songun Sea.

The area known as Qabór consists of both the Qabór Metropolitan Area and the City of Qabór. The Qabór Metropolitan Area is made up of several different cities, which are in-turn divided into several neighborhoods. The City of Qabór consists of all of Downtown Qabór, along with a few surrounding neighborhoods, and is to the east surrounded by the Songun Sea, to the north by the cities of Ascan, Tubets, and Krestin, to the south by Lí Natkas and Amtanen, and to the west by Kaha’as, Apin Koru’sta, and Patûli.
