Tabish is the capital city of the Republic of Rusana. Founded in 696 CE by the Oduniyyad governor Walid Muminir, it served as one of the most important port cities of the Oduniyyads in Alshar and from where many exotic products were shipped back to the west. It would be made the capital of Rusana wilayat until 750 when the capital was moved inland to Miftas. After the collapse of Caliphal authority in Alshar it would again serve intermittently as capital of the various local dynasties until the modern era. Tabish in the 21st century remains an important port and the main point of departure for Rusana's exports. With an urban population in excess of one million inhabitants, Tabish is by far the largest city in Rusana and it produces a large percentage of the countrys gross domestic product.
