Trinatria is a state of the Kiravian Federacy located in southeastern Great Kirav.
History
Viceregal Period
Between the disintegration of the Coscivian Empire and the Republican Revolution, the territory of modern-day Trinatria was divided among several statelets. Prominent among these was the Dominion of Tarélidan in the southeast, known for its prolific Coscivian pipegrass output. In an event that many now consider a precursor to the Republican Revolution, the last Lord Protector of Tarélidan, Litrismer Ixkaryanuv, was overthrown in 20556 by his enemies in the local aristocracy with the support of the minor gentry and many independent farmers. Ixkaryanuv fled Great Kirav to live in exile in Heriore, Caphiria for several years before travelling to Audonia, where he mounted several failed attempts to raise an army and seize a new kingdom for himself, giving rise to a modern fringe theory that Ixkaryanuv is the historical basis of the Prophet Muhammad in the Islamic tradition.
Republican Revolution
The Republican Revolution was a tumultuous time for Trinatria, and several notable battles of the Revolution were fought there. As in the rest of South Kirav, anti-Republican sentiment was strong in Trinatria, and more Trinatrians fought for the Viceroy than joined the Republican militia. However, Trinatrians' sympathies were more divided than Issyrians' or Andrēdanites'. Much of the Piedmont gentry, the influential Kaltan Coscivian minority, and a significant minority of the Tínoran gentry leaned Republican, while the Southern element were more resolutely Viceroyalist.
Government
Trinatria is a dominant-party presidential republic. Executive power is vested in the Governor of Trinatria, who is elected every seven years by plurality vote. Legislative power is vested in the bicameral Congress of Trinatria. The lower house, known as the State Assembly, is elected every three years, with seats divided among the state’s countyships in proportion to their population. The upper house, known as the Auditorium, comprises one seat for each countyship, regardless of population.
The Conservative Party of Trinatria is the dominant political force in the state, having controlled the legislature, governorship, and most countyship commissions without interruption since [YEAR]. The CPT is a member of the Southern Green-Right and Kiravian Conservative Union interstate conferences of political parties, and CPT Delegates to the Federal Stanora sit with the Authentic Historical Caucus group. The main opposition parties are the conservative-liberal Longleaf Pine Party (affiliated with the FRA), the Monarchist Party, and the Islamic Democrats. Another Muslim party, the Islamic Da'wah Party, is a satellite of the CPT. The CPT enjoys steadfast support from a dedicated bloc of ethnic Southerners, Tínorem, and Urom, especially in rural areas, while the LPP is supported by the Southern Gaels and more recent transplants to the state and is competitive among urbanites of all backgrounds.
Society and Culture
Trinatria straddles the fuzzy boundary between the South Kiravian cultural region and Míhanska Bay cultural region, and the state's culture reflects a mixture of influences from these two adjoining regions, as well as Highland influences in the west.
Economy
Trinatria has recently emerged as a middle-income state, showing steady growth since the 21190s and rising above the other core South Kiravian states - Andrēdan, Issyria, and Xula - in most economic indicators while still lagging behind the other coastal states. This divergence is mainly attributable to the more reformist political course adopted by the post-Kirosocialist leadership in Trinatria, contrasting with the other states' policies aimed at preserving the traditional and agrarian nature of their societies by placing constraints on industry and commerce.
Endowed with a moderate climate, level terrain, and good soil, Trinatria has long been one of the more agriculturally productive states in Great Kirav. Agricultural activity has accelerated in the post-Kirosocialist era, as Trinatria has been quicker than the other Southern states to grant regulatory approval to new agricultural technologies and encourage their adoption by farmers. Smokable herbs such as tobacco, kalir, Intheric pipeweed, and more recently hemp have long been important cash crops. Upland regions with a more oceanic climate are home to intensive hop cultivation. Potato, wheat, drallion, and increasingly maize are the leading food crops, and stock raising is concentrated mainly in the production of poultry, ducks, and hogs.
Trinatria has a significant aquaculture industry, particularly in the production of oysters and mussels along the coastal areas.
The naval stores industry was historically the state's most profitable economic sector. During the Age of the Sail, the state's extensive lowland coniferous forests provided a plurality of the vast quantities of pitch, tar, and resin necessary to maintain the burgeoning Kiravian navy and merchant marine. Proximity to Trinatria's tar mills was the main factor behind relocation of the Kiravian Navy's main yards from Valēka roadstead to Telmar in neighbouring Ventarya.
Trinatria attracts tourists with its beautiful coastline, sandy beaches, and natural landscapes. Tourism is a major driver of the local economy, especially during the summer months. Visitors engage in activities such as beach holidays, surfing, hiking, and exploring cultural sites.
