The Union of Audonia Development and Investment (UADI) is a regional development bank established in 2002 in the Sovereignty of Soirwind, founded initially as part of the Soirwind Reconstruction Program following the Soirwind Intervention in collaboration with Fiannria it was later expanded in 2005 and opened up to wider Audonia to help support social and economic development in Audonia and open up Audonian states to financial support and lending from Occidental states at fair rates. It is headquartered in Cathash, Soirwind.
Among its members are Soirwind, Fiannria, Urcea, Oyashima, Faneria, Pursat, Tapakdore, Peshabiwar, Pukhgundi, and Burgundie. Membership is open to any nation registered within the League of Nations as an Audonian nation as well as non-regional developed countries.
The UADI is modeled on a weighted voting system where votes are distributed in proportionally to members' capital subscriptions. AUDI releases an annual report that summarizes its operations, budget, and other materials for review by the public. It also sponsors a scholarship program that enrolls students annually into leading academic institutions within the UADI member states. Upon completion of the program, scholars are expected to contribute to the social and economic development of their home countries.
Governance
The UADI maintains similar governing structures to other development financial institutions consisting of a Board of Governors from each member state, who in turn elect a Board of Directors and deputies. The Board of governors also select the Union’s president who is the chairperson of the board of directors and of the UADI.
Presidents serve five year terms and can be reelected. Since it's founding there have been three presidents.
Activities and Aim
The UADI is dedicated to reducing poverty and encouraging responsible economic prosperity in Audoni through inclusive economic growth, sustainable growth, and regional integration. This is carried out through investments in the forms of grants, loans and information sharing and advising.
Major projects in the past include the Soirwind Economic Recovery program, the Kandara Rural Roads Investment project, and the Oyashima Insular Rail Network. A major pending program is expected to be announced for a new series of economic investments and programs to address modern issues and concerns of the current era including green energy, sustainable climate initiatives, and broadband access in addition to the usual economic investment programs. This program so far has only been known as the Marco Polo Initiative (Name tbd)
History
- Founded following the end of the Soirwind Intervention- civil conflict that led to Fiannan intervention in the conflict and reorganization of government
- After success of economic programs as part of the Soirwind Reconstruction program, Fiannan representatives met with major states in the region and involved int he region in reorganizing the entity into a multilateral development bank for all of Audonia, presumably as a counterbalance to Daxia's Audonia Development Bank.
- The organization starts to see regular success in early projects in its expanding zone of interested Audonian states
- Economic crises slow the development and the program, critics of globalism and corruption in Audonian states and the organization gain steam
- Revitalized economies of the Occident bolster the slow moving program in the 2010's to keep it as a stable organization, begin more regular work to put expectations on loans and grants than just handing out the money without requirements. Anti-corruption campaigns begin in this period and will continue irregularly for the next decade
- In light of new program, the UADI is seeing a bolstering in funding and staff for a new major investment and development campaign.
