The Foreign Relations of Brumalea are Brumalea's relations with governments and organizations throughout the world. Since its conception Brumalea has been an outwardly-focused state, dependent on cooperation with the nations in its periphery and beyond. In the country's time as a dominion of the Kingdom of Carna the local government still sought to pursue independent foreign relations with the state's surrounding Brumalea, such as Faneria, Fiannria, Prevalia, and even the various governing communities of Cusinaut, despite the region's historic decentralization. Through the country's history of establishing contact with the communities far from its own borders Brumalea continues to be an active member of the international community. The nation is a member of the League of Nations, the Talerzone, and the Treaty of International Assistance and Development.

Brumal Relation Classification Table

The Ministry of Brumal Relations annually publishes the Brumal Relation Classification Guide, for use by foreign relations analysts, elected officials, and even foreign elements. The guide is meant to inform the world population of the state of various relations between the world's different governing bodies and Brumalea. The system was devised by the administration of former Prime Minister Edward Drummond, and created by the administration's Minister of Brumal Relations, Evelyn Addams. She presented this system to the House of Commons in 2002, speaking of how increased transparency between the international community and Brumalea would serve to benefit those looking to foster relations with Brumalea and improve ties across national borders. The system was narrowly adopted in both chambers of parliament and received royal ascent on February 2nd, 2002. The system is still used and is accepted to be useful and effective, though some MPs have debated the usefulness of the negative qualifiers in fostering international relations, especially as they are infrequently assigned.

Relations between Algoquona and Brumalea are storied and complex. While the two nations share deep-seeded cultural and economic connections the governments of each nation share a tense relationship. The Brumal government has voiced its concerns over the state's lack of personal freedoms while the Algosh government has accused various officials in multiple Brumal governments of seeking to promote xenophobia and sever positive relations between each country's communities.

Relations between Brumalea and Carna are cordial in modern times, but have been mixed since the Carnish Revolution in 1948. Upon the beginning of the revolution on June 26th the Carnish royal family fled the country to Brumalea and began directly ruling the Brumal Domains as a Carnish government-in-exile. This was widely unpopular in Brumalea, as the country had previously enjoyed much autonomy from the government in Dunaird, but direct rule from the Carnish royal family alongside scrutiny from the Carnish revolutionary government in Dunaird led to relations rapidly deteriorating. Relations remained tense until the abolition of the monarchy in 2004, where relations henceforth improved significantly. Carna finally recognized Brumalea and opened an embassy in Leidtoun in 2005, and Brumalea followed suit in 2007. Cultural ties between the nations remain strong and the two governments collaborate through the Treaty of International Assistance and Development, but unease over the historic disputes between the countries remains in the Brumal consciousness, and has impeded relations improving further.

Daxia recognized Brumalea upon the proclamation of constitutional monarchy in 1986, establishing in embassy in Leidtoun soon after. Brumalea followed suit establishing an embassy in Mirzak in 1987. The two nationns were amicable throughout the following decades but didn't pursue closer relations outside of their established cordial relationship. This changed however with the bombing of Shimrra, with relations souring significantly and Brumalea recalling its ambassador to Daxia. Daxia followed suit and embassies in both countries have been closed since.

Through geographic proximity Brumalea and Faneria have long had amicable relations, with minor relapses in recent history through regional dispute over fishing rights and maritime navigation rights. Faneria has served as Brumalea's military guarantor since the collapse of the Kingdom of Carna, and both nation's navies and coast guards collaborate with one another regularly.

Brumalea and Varshan have historically had little contact with one another, but established diplomatic relations in 1994 in former Prime Minister Asiyâw Môhconikaniw's closer ties with the states of northern Crona. While positive relations were established with many of the states of northern Crona, Brumalea did not develop a constructive relationship with Varshan. Brumalean diplomatic efforts were received with a muted response from the Varshani government, and an embassy was only established in the Varshani capital of Anzo in 1999. Relations quickly deteriorated with Varshan's growing militarism in 2020, and were officially severed on April 15th, 2021, upon the invasion of Quetzenkel.
