National Association of Former Detainees & Deportees
The National Association of Former Detainees & Deportees (Kiravic: Altağudrax Xarbon Montix Łedrikulya ú Mexikulya) is a Kiravian non-governmental organisation that advocates on the behalf of persons subject to detention or forced migration under the rule of the Kiravian Union as a form of political persecution, and also the families and descendants of such people. From 1988 to 1999, the Electoral Action of Former Detainees & Deportees (EAFDD) served as the political arm of the NAFDD and won representation in the Federal Stanora in four consecutive elections.
The NAFDD's focus population are primarily former inmates of the katergon labour camps and reëducation facilities, people subjected to involuntary migration schemes ("deportees"), and victims of political abuse of psychiatry under the rule of the Kiravian Union. The organisation also serves the surviving widows and orphans of such people, and the presumptive heirs of those who died or disappeared in state custody. When the Kiravian Union's archives were opened to public scrutiny under the Open Secrets Act in 1986, the NAFDD began lodging records requests under its protocols in order to elucidate the scope of civil rights abuses under the previous régime and ascertain the fates of persons who had disappeared into the system. It also assisted former detainees, deportees, etc. with legal proceedings in the transitional justice courts and with administrative compensation claims. Through both its civil society and political wings, the NAFDD-EAFDD pushed the post-reunification government to thoroughly investigate the repressive machinery of the Kiravian Union, prosecute KU officials to the maximum extent possible given the immunity clauses of the transitional agreements, and provide various forms of aid and reparations to its constituents.
The NAFDD is registered as a non-profit autonymous company under the laws of Erusta State and is headquartered in Saar-Kitigan, Kitigan Countyship, Erusta. Its office for political affairs is located in Kartika, where it also maintains a Museum of State Criminality to educate the public about the thing.
