Etymology

The name of the island is known to be very old origin and its been told to come from old seaman saying "Further than a man has sailed to die." referring to the remoteness of the island and its disconnection from the rest of the world.

History

The northern coast of the Farmandie island was known as a interim trading post, resting point and shipyard by Kiravian and Bergendii sailors from since its official charting in 1616.

Early colonisation (1700-1782)

In 1707 Kiravian goverment? gave an order to establish a permanent colony on mouth of River ? on the northern coast of the island. After the Burgoignesc goverment found out about the Kiravian colony it gave an order to establish a competing colony on the island. The Burgoignesc fleet arrived to Farmandie on summer of 1712. The captain in charge of the Burgoignesc fleet decided to make a bold move and ordered his men to make their settlement on the opposing side of the river from the Kiravian colony on the eastern shore of the River ?. Altho peaceful at first the relations between the two colonies soon fell to the ground which led to freguent and violent skirmishes and ruthless competition between the two colonies.

Neglect and self govern (1783-1792)

Because of the extremely long sea vouages caused by the remoteness of the island both colonies were forgotten and neglected by their colonial overlords which led the two colonies to get disconnected from the rest of the world by 1785. Realisation of their neglegted state on winter of 1788 led the two colonies to settle their differences and merge together as one larger settlement. In the beginning the former hostilities complemented with language barrier and difficulties with the punishing and harsh weather conditions and environment led to heavy drinking habits and violent escalations. Large group fights often broke out between the two ethnic groups after a night of heavy drinking. Ofter referred as the small civil wars.
