|Faneria's standard work week is four days with nine hours of labor and an unpaid hour-long lunch; overtime is double for hourly workers, requires an additional 30-minute break, and may not exceed 12 hours. Work on national holidays for most jobs may not be mandatory, and is paid at overtime rates automatically. Faneria does not usually practice paid leave outside of maternity leave (8 months standard beginning roughly 3 months prior to expected due date), but employers may not cite taking less than 22 sick days off per year (198 hours) as a cause for firing, essentially guaranteeing a total of 22 days off annually for illness and vacation. Workers are generally encouraged to take their remaining days off at the end of the year. The minimum wage nationwide is set at Br. 18.35.
