The Ænglish people, or Anglos, are a group of people of Gothic origin who established the Ænglish March in service to the Southern Kingdom of the Levantines, which later became the Kingdom of Angla. They emerged as a unique culture with a unique language during the Medieval period, and due to their central location in Levantia and amalgam language, provided a bridge between the various Germanic, Gaelic and Latinic cultures in Levantia. The Ænglish people are distantly related to the peoples of the United Kingdom.

Perhaps their greatest legacy, the Ænglish people became known in the late Medieval period as prolific traders, and Ænglish traders were in most major cities in Levantia by the middle of the 14th century. Their commercial presence combined with their prowess as mercenaries lead to their language becoming the lingua franca of Levantia, and by the 16th century it was one of the most common languages in Levantia and the court language of Urcea. The Ænglish language is now the most commonly spoken language in Urcea and elsewhere.

The Ænglish are a minority living primarily within Vrell and the Bulge in Kistan, spread across the border with Urcea's semiautonomous zone of Angla. Defined as a mix of Latin settlers and native Gallic peoples, they were formed as an ethnic group during the collapse of the Vrellan Imperium, as Gothic tribes invaded the Bulge and mingled with the local proto-Kistani and pure Latins living in the southern Levantine core. Their language mixed influences of Latin, native Gael holdouts, and the Germanic language to create Aenglish, which separated them from both the Kistani Feinii and Urcean Latins.

Ængles in Kistan

Called "Parvufhainn" or 'little Fhainn' by the Kistani, Ængles within Kistan lack any semiautonomous status, and have generally been considered equal to their overlords, as opposed to the later subjugation of Ultmar, Kurikila, and Lukquarel. Ængles are typically at least moderately capable of Latin, and bilingualism is encouraged in the community by both internal leadership and through paternal tradition by the state. Ængles formed a significant core of the Kingdom's famed Lancer Corps up until the late twentieth century, and retain significant power in politics, the military, and (particularly international) trade.

Ængles in Urcea

Ængles in Urcea were technically sovereign under the banner of the Kingdom of Angla, initially employed as marcher subjects by the Southern Kingdom of the Levantines. Following the destruction of an independent Ænglish polity, Ængles in Urcea were granted the autonomous state of Aenglasmarch.
