The 2038 Caldera presidential election is the first ever presidential election in Caldera's history, since the previous election resulted in massive reforms to Caldera's political system, turning the country from a form of fascist oligarchy to a pluralistic republic. Early polls showed that the incumbent Charles LeMieux was most likely to win, but aggressive campaigning by the Calderan Restoration Party resulted in a surprising turn of events
Issues in this election were mostly based around Calderan nationalism and foreign policy. Adian Vandal, attempting to run since his loss in 2034, is running on the platform of Gothic nationalism and individualism. Charles LeMieux ran a campaign based on unifying the country under a new, unique nationalism, which is notably different from his previous policies which promoted Burgoignesc nationalism. Ben Goodstein ran a campaign based around Calderan nationalism as it exists and already had existed prior to the 2034 election.
