The Department of Social Maintenance (Burg: Departament della manteniment societal (DMS)), colloquially called Les Frumentarie, was a secret police force of the newly formed nation of Burgundie in the late 19th century through its dissolution in the Levantine Union Treaty in 1954. While the National Constabulary of Burgundie, the National Gendarmerie of Burgundie, and Revenue Guard concerned themselves with the enforcement of civil statues, the DMS was created chiefly to combat influences of Derian people at the conclusion of the First Fratricide. It later morphed into a general force to suppress anti-social and revolutionary forces.

Despite being disbanded in 1954 a lasting vestige of the DMS lives on in the Academia Burgoignesc and the Gendarmerie's Observation and Treaty Corps (Burg: Corps d’Observacion e Tractes).
