Levantine naming dispute

The Levantine name dispute is an item of discourse in Levantine cultural and scholarly circles, particularly within Ultmar. In many contexts, “Levantine” is used to refer to residents of the Levantine Union or the historic polities of Holy Levantine Empire and Great Levantia. In the relevant modern applications, this means “Levantia” is functionally applied to be synonymous with “South Levantia” (called Catholic Levantia) to the exclusion of the remainder of the continent; this issue is expressly tied into notions of Levantine identity, which apply only to people from the south Levantia area. Some opponents of this use suggest generalizing the term and applying a new adjective to south Levantines (such as "Cisvandarcine"), while others suggest the term “Levantia” as a continent name should be abandoned altogether for a more inclusive term which includes Ultmar (such as "Vandarcia" or simply "Vandarch").
