Mirada, officially the City of Mirada (Cartadanian: Cidade de Mirada), is a major city in the Commonwealth of Verona in Cartadania, forming a major component of the Palm Coast metropolitan area. With a 2024 census population of 2.6 million, Mirada is the second-most populous city in Verona, the fourth-most populous in Cartadania, and one of the most densely populated major cities in the nation. Its population is greater than that of six individual states and more populous than the two smallest states, Lipora and Calajara, combined. Situated in the southwestern portion of Sierra County, Mirada is known for its semi-tropical climate as is much of the rest of urban Cartadania, as well as its ethnic diversity. It is the largest city in Cartadania that is not a county seat.

History

Mirada was originally formed as a small inland settlement by debellators from Amarsia, Desia, and Turiana on Sierra Expeditio. It was a satellite to the larger city of Sierra, which at the time was only about 140,000 people along the southern branch of the Mendes river, separated from Mirada by the Sierra Creek.

Education

Mirada does not host a university itself, but it does have two community college campuses. Its residents are able to attend UVA Sierra in neighboring Sierra and UVA Oceanside in the city of Bridgeland. Verona Tech has its main campus in La Joya. Outside of the metro area, Merced University is located southerly in the city of Canaeria, while Erudite is located northwesterly in Alahuela.

K-12 education

The city is served by the Mirada Independent School District, which is the ninth-largest school district in the state. It enrolls 214,907 in its 215 schools. The city was formerly part of the Sierra Independent School District, which it borders, before Sierra ISD split its southern zones to form it and South Sierra Independent School District.
