Rhône Parish, officially the Parish of Rhône Charentais pronunciation: [roʊn] (Cartadanian: Paróquia do Ródano; Charentais: Paroisse du Rhône), is a parish in the Commonwealth of Maresia, within Cartadania. As of the 2030 census, the parish had a population of 2,026,105 residents, making it the most populous parish in Maresia. With a land area of 3,056 square kilometres (1,180 sq mi), it is also Maresia's largest parish in terms of geographical coverage. The parish seat is the city of Auvergne, which serves as both the state capital and the most populous city in Maresia.

Situated in Maresia's peninsular western region, known as the Promontoire, Rhône Parish is the core city of the Greater Auvergne metropolitan statistical area. The parish is home to 14 incorporated cities and encompasses a diverse range of landscapes, from heavily urbanized northern, central, and western areas, which feature numerous high-rises and the prominent Downtown Auvergne central business district, to the agricultural economies of the southern Rouge and Propriété areas, comprising the cities of Vacherie and Terrebonne.

Education

Rhône Parish is home to the largest school district in the state of Maresia, Rhône Parish Schools, which enrolls approximately 175,000 students. The school system's 2030 fiscal budget was $6.138 billion, which equates to a per-pupil expenditure of $35,332, one of the highest in the country, second only to Valorica's school system. Among the schools in Rhône Parish, Courbagne High School for Science and Technology (CHSST) stands out. CHSST is a Maresia Governor's School and consistently ranks at or near the top of all Cartadanian high schools due to the exceptional academic performance of its students. CHSST's students regularly perform nationally recognized research in the sciences and engineering, and the school produces a high number of National Merit Semi-Finalists and Finalists. However, since CHSST is a Governor's School, it draws students not only from Rhône Parish but also from several other parishes in Maresia.

Rhône Parish is also home to several Catholic schools, which fall under the Catholic Diocese of Auvergne. One such school is the Pembroke School, a Catholic school in Rhône Parish not run by the Diocese. Additionally, Tempête Catholic High School is the Diocese-run Catholic high school for Rhône Parish.

Post-secondary

The University of Maresia, the state's flagship institution, is the only public four-year degree-conferring institution located in the parish limits, but one of two in metropolitan area alongside the Maresia Institute of Technology in Essonne Parish. It has approximately 70,000 students during any given school year and generates a decent portion of the state's economy by both development and by producing some of the state's top graduates.

Western Maresia Community College (WMCC) has campuses across the metro area, with seven located within Rhône Parish alone. Maresia Commonwealth University's School of Medicine recently constructed a medical campus wing at Saule Hospital of Auvergne in order to grant medical degrees to students in the Western Peninsula region, thus medical students typically relocate to the capital region for medical school from other parts of the state. It is also home to UM's College of Medicine, which typically has joint ventures with MCU.

The area also has several private universities and various vocational schools, including École University located in neighboring Essonne Parish, Des Allemands Institute, Grande Pointe College, and Jean Lafitte College. Additionally, the University of West Maresia is located 116.2 kilometres (72.2 mi) southwest of Auvergne in Aube Parish, while the Maresia Urlazio Coast University is located in Ory Parish, southwest of Auvergne in the Greater Macouria region.
