The XII Corps is a corps of the Urcean Royal and Imperial Army. It is a major formation of the Levantine Command and it is currently stationed in eastern Burgundie.
XII Corps was established as part of the reorganization of the army in the decade following the '97 Rising, and included a number of "Legitimist" units involved in that conflict which had been integrated into the army. It saw little action until the onset of the Second Great War, during which time it was deployed to Burgundie in the first months of the war to help defend the country against Derian nationalist forces. During its defensive mission there, the Corps became closely associated with Burgundie and its people, becoming well respected and liked among the Burgoignesc people. This defensive mission made a permanent impact on the character of the Corps, leading to it receiving both its nickname ("Burgoignesc Buddies") as well as its current insignia and badge. When Burgundie requested assistance from Urcea in Operation Kipling, XII Corps was specifically designated for deployment there due to the historic connection between it and the Burgoignesc people.
After Operation Kipling, XII Corps was redeployed to Lariana for a time before being permanently redeployed to eastern Burgundie, where its mission became the defense of the Burgoignesc Metropole and peacekeeping between it and its Derian neighbors. As part of Final War of the Deluge, XII Corps was temporarily redeployed to Quetzenkel, serving in a defensive capacity on the Quetzenkel front. Following Urcean victories elsewhere against Varshan and a general weakening of its military capacity, XII Corps participated in Operation Pullman and the Fall of Anzo. After its role in the fall of Zurgite Varshan, XII Corps was part of the League of Nations occupation force from 2024 through 2027 before being redeployed back to its normal home in Burgundie.

Cultural impact
XII Corps has served as an important common source of pride between the peoples of Urcea and Burgundie. Their service in defense of Burgundie during the Second Great War has been cited by many cultural observers as thawing long-term resentments between the two countries held since the 19th century Recess of the Julii. Many of these same observers believe that the "very public sacrifice" of Urcean soldiers in defense of Burgundie from their long-time enemy, the Derian people, changed the minds of the Burgoignesc public towards Urcea, and established the groundwork for the special relationship enjoyed by both nations today.
The Corps Column in Urceopolis was constructed by the government of Burgundie after the Second Great War as recognition of the Corps' service. It remains the most prominent cultural object in Urceopolis with a Burgoignesc language inscription on it, and is a popular site for Burgoignesc tourists.
