The Half-a-Year War was an armed conflict between Daxia, Reçêpistan and Ætheryion. Daxian leadership, seeing the chaos occurring in Ætheryion caused by revolutionary frenzy as demands for democratization, liberalism, egalitarianism, increased worker rights, religious freedom would make the nation vulnerable to collapse or export its revolution, so a pre-emptive strike was necessary. The socio-political upheaval was surprisingly strange, as it lacked many of the customary causes of revolution since it occurred during a time of relative prosperity, producing profound change at great speed as civil disobedience against the authoritarian theocratic 'republic'.
The war began when a joint surprise attack on Ætheryion positions, hoped to take advantage of the revolutionary chaos. At the beginning it was followed by massive successes but it was short lived as limited victories would soon lead to the repulsion of the foreign forces closer to the border. Kiravia and Veltorina initiated massive resupply efforts to Ætheryion during the war despite being ideologically opposed on regional policy. Despite the fact the attackers were known for their anti-communist tendencies, realpolitik had forced the duo to turn to Kiravia for material and information assistance as they were largely isolated, many powers either unwilling - unable - or disinterested in participating to the conflict except for profit.

Military Exercises
For weeks leading up to the war, the Daxian army staged a long-intensive training exercise adjacent to the demarcation line. Veltorinan intelligence, detected large troop movements towards border units, dismissed them as mere part of the training exercises. Movements of Recepi troops towards their border were also detected, as were the cancellation of leaves and a call-up of reserves in the Popular Mobilization Forces. These activities were considered puzzling, but not a threat because, as Ætheryion believed, they would attack each other. Despite this belief, the military was on high alert due to internal crisis but couldn't sustain such a large troop surge indefinately. These forces were to prove critical during the early days of the war.
On February, two batches of reservists were called up by the Daxian army to participate in these exercises. On similar note, before the outbreak of the war, the Recepi high command publicly announced the demobilization of around 20,000 non-essential troops subsequently some given leave to participate in Ashura

Burgundian involvement
Fearing reigniting the tensions regarding perceived "Levantine Creep" that ignited the Second Great War, Burgundie was cautious to respond to Ætheryion´s request for aid.
Burgundie had two aims in their involvement. Firstly, they hoped that a compromise, but definitely not communist, government could be form in Ætheryion after the war. Secondly, the involvement of Kiravia led to fears of a global expansion of Kirosocialism flamed the already intensive red scare sweeping Burgundie. Through these means Burgundie was eventally coaxed into supplying Ætheryion with limited financial and material support. A special dispensation was saught from Caphiria that recognized Burgundie´s non-expansionist intentions.
Thusly, Burgundie's involvement was odd because their intentions clearly aligned more with their Daxiao-Recepi adversaries, namely stamping out revolutionarism but thrpugh their odd choice of accepting Kiravia as a backer they caused Burgundie to join the side of the Ætheryionese revolutionaries. Unofficially to avoid criticism supporting "anti-Chritian" dictatorial regimes covertly sold massive amounts of weapons and provided intelligence support.
Veltorinan involvement
The Veltorinan Socialist Labour Party was infiltrated via heavy entryism tactics by orthodox internationalist elements and various smaller cadre(but banned) communist parties to influence their political views through a legitimate and established political entity.
