Narico

Narico is a Province of Caphiria located on Caphirian Urlazio, consisting of approximately a third of the island Urlazio located north of Sarpedon. Narico shares borders with the provinces of Canterra to its west, Ovetta and Netharra to its north, and the Urlazian Sea to its south. The Kingdom of Lariana is to the east. With a population of aproximately 16 million, it is the 8th-smallest province in the Imperium. The capital of Narico is Castra Osaniovo, which is situated on Sybaesa Port, one of the primary ports for the Imperial Naval Fleet. Due to its mild climate, scenery, and gambling facilities, Narico has a status as a tourist destination and recreation centre for the wealthy and elite. Narico is known for its coastal resorts such as the Viridian Hotel in Magador, the Meridionali Resonare (Southern Echo Resort & Spa) in Castra Osaniovo, and the exclusive Nova Resort in Aldorrolan.

History

Following the Assumption Accords, Narico absorbed the Ecinis Peninsula ceded from Lariana, expanding its land area by nearly a third.

Energy

Narico’s energy infrastructure is managed under the Urlazio Electric Cooperative, a collaborative framework established in the early 20th century through a tri-lateral agreement involving the Cartadanian Department of Energy and Mineral Resources (DEMR), the Caphirian Ministry of Infrastructure, and the Lariana Ministry of Energy, and their respective local authorities in the Urlazio region. The agreement arose during a rather tumultuous time in Urlazio's history, which has been primarily reflective of the historically close economic and infrastructural ties between Cartadania and Caphiria, particularly in the Urlazian provinces, as well as Lariana, in spite of the events of the Great Wars.

As part of this agreement, the DEMR oversees the operation and maintenance of Narico’s energy facilities in coordination with Caphirian construction and engineering teams. The province’s energy needs are met through a diverse network of facilities, including twelve natural gas power plants and two solar farms. The natural gas plants serve as the primary energy source, delivering a combined 58.6 terawatt-hours of electricity per year to the province’s urban and industrial centers. The two solar farms, established as part of a broader initiative to diversify the energy portfolio and reduce carbon emissions, contribute an additional 0.131 terawatt-hours of renewable energy to the grid, particularly during peak daylight hours. By keeping management under a single entity, the cooperative framework not only facilitates efficient management of energy resources but also enables the sharing of expertise and technology between the three nations. Primarily, Cartadania’s DEMR ensures compliance with modern environmental standards while supporting Narico’s economic growth and infrastructure development.
