Lemon Drop (레몬두로부) is a Metzettan girl group formed and managed by Dolaji Records. They debuted on 2nd August, 2018 with the single "Cola Pop." The following year saw the release of their debut album, Fruit Punch. Their musical style primarily revolves around catchy hooks and the nostalgic influence of "retro" Metzettan music, particularly the City Ballads of the 1980s. The group have released music in both Metzi and English, and are one of the nation's most successful entertainment acts of the 21st century both domestically and abroad.

The group's discography includes three studio albums (two in Metzi and one in English), a compilation album, eight EPs and numerous singles. They have received numerous accolades and awards in Metzetta and have placed number one in the Sinmun-seda music charts on five occasions. The band members often contribute to song writing themselves in addition to songwriters supplied by their label.

Career

Lemon Drop debuted on Music Garden, a popular music-based television show in Metzetta, on 2nd August 2018, the same day their single Cola Pop was released. On 17th October this was swiftly followed with their second single, Across The Water. The video for Cola Pop became the most viewed music video of 2018 online in Metzetta. In December their first EP, Miama of Salidros was released, with several tracks receiving heavy airplay over the Christmas and Saehae season resulting in exceptional sales. During this period the single Treacle Tarts became their first number one single.

February of 2019 saw the release of their first LP, Fruit Punch, which was accompanied by a series of concert appearances. Two more EPs were released in 2019; Long Distance in July and Doctor in November, each accompanied by another appearance on Music Garden. 2020 was the year of the group's first solo tour, which began on 3rd March, the same day as their fourth EP released, titled Oranges, Lemons and Limes. In May the group released their fifth EP, Camera, as well as Wendi's debut solo single Grenadine. In July they made their first foreign concert dates in Canpei. August saw their second number one single hit the charts in the form of Ring Ring Ring.

In 2021 the group released their first (and to date only) single in the Latin language, Mango, which did not top the charts and disappeared fairly quickly, only being performed in concert since then while in Sarpedon. The group appeared regularly on Music Garden throughout the year and held another successful tour, releasing singles regularly while teasing that a new album was in the works. Said album finally saw release on new year's day 2022 under the title Another Blue Moon, the lead single and title track providing another number one hit for the girls, their third so far. Their Blue Moon Tour was their most successful to date, with the album itself also rising to number one. Lemon Drop were by this time considered the country's favourite girl group.

In 2023 they released a compilation album of hit singles and some of their uncollected B-sides yet to appear on an album, called Droplets, which launched on 20th February. On 26th April they released their sixth EP, The Five Of Us, with another four songs from the group. This year also saw the release of the only Lemon Drop solo album yet seen, with Wendi's album Air launching in June. They began 2024 by releasing their seventh EP, once again on new year's day, by the name of Volleyball. In March Yolisa and Hanyeo released a single under the banner of Lemon Drop: Yolisa & Hanyeo called Everytime, which is not usually counted among the main group's discography. In June they achieved another chart-topping single with Honey Drip, their fourth in total; the ancient Istroyan-themed music video went on to be the most-viewed music video online in the country that year and is said to have resulted in increased Metzettan tourism in the region for several months.

In 2025 the group courted foreign popularity more directly by releasing an English-language album titled Lemon Pie, with the lead single Double Dare providing their most recent chart-topping single. The album was released in March, with much of the remainder of the year taken up with promotion, touring and single releases. 2026 saw the release of their most recent four-track EP in Twang as well as another well-reviewed tour and several singles.

Members

Wendi, leader of the group

Wendi

Considered the group's leader, Wendi (real name Shon Wendi) is the lead vocalist for the group, as well as a competent guitarist. She was born in Ankae and was introduced to music through the church choir by her catholic family, though she is not actively religious nowadays. She has appeared on numerous film and TV soundtracks and released several solo singles as well as a full solo album, Air. She is the only member of the group to have released her own album.

She has tremendous marketing power and has appeared in advertisements for Hyansae Motors and the Metzettan branch of NoWaiter. She is a model and ambassador for Metzetta's popular fashion label ZVibe alongside bandmate Yolisa. In a 2023 poll she was named Metzetta's best-loved idol. Wendi has revealed in interviews that she loves dogs and has three Zeolla Shepards, and keeps chickens on her large rural property.

Wendi's solo singles include Grenadine, What Do You Want Me To Do, Whale Song and Mina. She has expressed an interest in Sarpedon and its ancient mythologies, resulting in several songs based around legendary and historical figures including Miama of Salidros and the character of Mina from Koripides' play of the same name. She is the most fluent of the group in English and is often seen translating difficult phrases for her bandmates. She has written more songs for the group than any of her colleagues.

She is said to be working on a book, suspected to be an autobiography, which would mark the first book publication by a member of the band. She is an automotive enthusiast and owns, among other cars, a Saraçen Heolikein, an extremely rare and modern performance car, and a convertible Hyansae Type 1 from 1945, one of the few working examples remaining in the world. In interviews she has revealed that her favourite colour is yellow and her favourite thing to eat is Yonderian pastry, particularly the Donnebourger.

Bae Yolisa

Yolisa

Yolisa (real name: Bae Yolisa) is the group's main dancer and secondary songwriter alongside Wendi and their label-assigned writers. She is the group's most versatile instrumentalist, having learned to play since she was six, and is comfortable playing tanso, saxophone and clarinet, with what she describes as "passable" piano skills. She was born in Inyang where she currently owns a penthouse apartment in the fashionable Yeppeun District. She enjoys sailing and owns her own sailboat, and is a member of a sailing club in Inyang. She takes on the least solo verses out of all the group members, having little faith in her singing abilities despite receiving praise for them.

She has had several small television roles and released a song together with Hanyeo called Everytime, which she wrote along with the B-side Dreadnaught. Her interest in the sea and ships fuels many of her songwriting endeavours.

Her English is notably the poorest among the members of Lemon Drop and she would reportedly not be able to function on her own when staying in an English-speaking country on tour. She has made several guest appearances on other groups' albums and is very involved in choreography for her group's stage shows and music videos. While the band has made many appearances on Music Garden, she has appeared on her own in capacity as guest host on several episodes. Alongside Wendi she is a model and ambassador for fashion label ZVibe, for whom she has made several t-shirt designs which she often wears during interviews as a promotional move.

In interviews she has revealed her favourite colour is blue and her favourite thing to eat is fried chicken, notably having eaten at Coria Clux every single night during one stay in Urcea. She keeps an impressive aquarium with several rare species in her home, but has no other pets on account of living in an apartment. Reportedly she has a phobia of spiders, jellyfish, and any potential genetic hybrid between the two.

Jadu Hanyeo

Hanyeo

Hanyeo (real name: Jadu Hanyeo) provides harmony vocals with occasional solo verses. She is a drummer but never plays live for the band which tends to use electronic drum machines on most tracks, with some exceptions for studio albums. She has written only one song for the group by herself, Big Boots from Another Blue Moon, but has also received joint credits on songs written by the entire band. She was born in Ingeo and currently resides in Hanzeong. She spent three years of her childhood in Oyashima and is fluent in Oyashimi as well as Metzi, with conversational English skills. She has recently broken into the movie industry with several supporting roles and hopes to expand on this in the future. She appeared on the single Everytime alongside bandmate Yolisa, also supporting on the B-side, Dreadnaught.

Her main hobby is cooking and she often shares photos and recipes on her social media accounts, when touring she will usually report her opinions on the local cuisine. Due to her willingness to share cookery tips she has been a spokesperson for several cookware brands and appeared alongside Laura Scudder in a Ramyeonba television advertisement. Her bandmates have accused her of making overly spicy dishes on purpose to get a reaction out of them. Her favourite dish to eat is prawn curry. She has appeared as the guest host on an episode of Music Garden.

She has revealed in interviews that her favourite colour is pink. She is the only member of the band without a driver's license, but can drive a moped; she was known to go to work on her bicycle before her increased fame lead her music label to forbid that for fear of accidents. She enjoys painting but admits to being "not much good." She is a relative of Jadu Sik, captain of the Metzettan National Football Team and Hanzeong United.

Kim Jilla

Jill

Jill (real name: Kim Jilla) provides harmony vocals with occasional solo verses and often plays keys on studio recordings, though never onstage as it would interfere with their dance routines. The label suggested she go by the name of Jill rather than Jilla to appeal to the international market as it was similar to her real name but "less foreign." She contributes to songwriting and receives credit alongside the rest of the group from time to time but has never received solo credits for penning a track, though she did release an indie EP before being signed which she wrote herself. Said EP, Bare Knuckle, only received significant attention after Lemon Drop's success.

She was born in Galko but moved to Ingeo for secondary school where she coincidentally attended the same school as Hanyeo, though they never shared classes as Jill is a couple of years younger. In contrast to Hanyeo she is a terrible cook which is often the subject of jokes within the band and within their fandom. She cannot handle spicy food very well which often prompts Hanyeo to add extra spice to her dishes; her favourite thing to eat is BBQ pulled pork. She now coincidentally resides in Hanyeosae to the amusement of her bandmate.

She has revealed in interviews that her favourite colour is red and has mastered some of the essential English phrases, but often struggles in comprehensive interviews. However, she is fluent in Daxian which she studied in school. She has appeared in advertisements for the airline Metzettair and is a model and ambassador for NoSecrets, a popular Metzettan fashion label as well as an outspoken advocate for the observation of Mettubok Day among the nation's youth. When she was young her parents only listened to classical music, leading her to have a deep appreciation of Shon Iksung, whom she consistently cites as one of her musical heroes; she can play much of his piano output from memory. She is an avid fan of women's football and supports the Galko Stars team, and practices Taekwondo in her spare time to keep fit and healthy, as well as acting as a form of meditation and escape from her busy work life.

Park Seulgi

Seulgi

Seulgi (real name: Park Seulgi) provides harmony vocals with occasional solo verses and sometimes writes songs for the group, with a particular focus on lyrics; she has expressed interest in releasing a book of poetry someday. She can play the harmonica but seldom has the opportunity to display this talent, having only played on two tracks for the group in its history. She released her first solo EP in 2025, named Coconuts, which had a tropical theme.

She was born in Hokae and currently lives in Hanzeong's Uinyeo District. She is a keen photographer and collects pocket knives. In interviews she has revealed her favourite colour is purple and her favourite thing to eat is ham and pineapple pizza. She has also claimed to have a "borderline addiction" to Imperial Cola. She has said in the past she is inspired by the story of The Kukki Sisters and listens to their music on plane flights while touring. She is noted as the quietest of the quintet but her bandmates note that she becomes quite outspoken, with a bizarre sense of humour, once you get to know her. She was a top athlete at school but a broken leg eventually put an end to any dreams of pursuing it further, often finishing first in sprints and performing well in the high-jump, as well as being an avid basketball and volleyball player. She still enjoys watching sports and particularly anticipates the coming of the Istroyan Games, of which she watches as much as possible.

Seulgi has a sweet tooth and her bandmates claim they hide their sweets from her lest they disappear mysteriously. Her favourite part of touring is trying local candies and chocolates. She is the least active of the group on social media but posts meticulous run-downs of her trips to candy stores when on tour; her favourite flavours appear to be watermelon, grape and lemon. She is a notable supporter of women's charities and has allegedly made some large anonymous donations to them since becoming famous and wealthy. She claims to become homesick often when away on tour.
