Amaniaris is an overseas island possession of the Caphiria located west of Sarpedon, between the Taínean Sea and the Kindreds Sea. The first recorded settlers of the island were ancient Taineans who used the island as a local trade hub during the classical period. During the 10th century, the Second Imperium had control over Cognatia, a region consisting of modern-day Cartadania and Pelaxia, as well as several islands in the Kindreds. Amaniaris then fell under the control of the Castrillón Estate, one of the most prominent Estates in Caphiria at the time. Sebastián Pasillas, a member of the Castrillóns, brought 2000 of his slaves to help build a new town, Port Vorița and work the surrounding fields. Pasillas sent out expeditions to secure the new town, extend the Imperium's borders, build a number of coastal fortresses, and commandeer supplies from the locals. In 1179, Port Vorița was declared an official port of the Imperium, servicing trade between Vallos and the mainland. By the 16th century, Amaniaris became an important maritime hub and its location made it ideal stopover along the Southern Route, a sea lane that transported goods from Daxia to Sarpedon. The island experienced an economic boom and had a population of approximately 150,000 by 1595. During the collapse of the Third Imperium in the late 18th century, Amaniaris was frequently raided by pirates and the island served as a meeting place for mercenaries.
