Maristella is an overseas possession and territory of Caphiria in Catenias, a region located south of the Kindreds Sea situated between Vallos and mainland Sarpedon. It is an archipelago of 4 islands: Orvela, Granmirada, Coribus, and Azzurina, and several atolls.

The initial inhabitants of Maristella were originally believed to be predecessors to the North Songun civilization, with their arrival speculated to have been on Heaven Ships. However, archaeological evidence suggests that the region was settled by the Glaistic civilization, particularly the Mustrida people. By the collapse of the Adonerii in the 6th century BC, independent settlements were formed throughout the Kindreds Sea and colonies and trade networks were being established with eastern Vallos and Sarpedon. From the 2nd century until the 8th century, Maristella was part of the Emeritan Republic and was one of the wealthiest regions due to its proximity to the Sarpic coast and its natural resources. In the late 8th century, Maristella, then part of the Emeritan Republic, transitioned into a vassal state under the Caphiric First Imperium. Despite this change, Maristella maintained a significant degree of autonomy, setting it apart from other vassal states. The region's strategic location and natural resources made it one of the wealthiest areas, further fostering its development and integration into the Caphirian domain. This period also saw the deepening of cultural, economic, and political ties with Lucrecia, marking a golden age of mutual prosperity and collaboration. Following the collapse of the Second Imperium in 1172, Maristella remained under Caphirian control, contrasting with Lucrecia's temporary independence. With the formation of the Third Imperium in 1283, Maristella evolved into a formal colony, featuring private villas, military fortifications, and burgeoning cities. This development period solidified Maristella’s strategic importance and its role as a key possession of Caphiria.
