The South Songun Peninsular Commercial Railway System (Qabóri: ᑐᐢᑭ ᓱᐣᑯᐣ ᐯᓂᐣᓴᓚᐟ ᑯᒥᓴᐟ ᕋᐢᑯᐸᕀ ᐏᑕᐠ), often shortened to Peninsular Railway (Qabóri: ᐯᓂᐣᓴᓚᐟ ᕋᐢᑯᐸᕀ), abbreviated as PR, is a Tierradorian government-owned regional passenger and freight hauling railroad that operates in Tierrador, along with four other countries in South Crona. Throughout the South Songun Peninsula, Peninsular Railway operates approximately 270,000 kilometers of freight rail along with 189,000 kilometers of passenger services, using 72,000 locomotives. It is one of the most extensive railway systems in Crona and around the world. The company has planned for rail expansions into Asteria, Alstin, and Malentina, set to break ground in 2040.

Peninsular Railway was founded in 1836, in line with the beginning of the industrialization period in the Qabóri Woqalate. Funded mostly by the Burgoignesc government, the first passenger railway was constructed in Ambaqwe, Auqali, and offered daily services to Qabór and Taisgol, all in the same line. Over the course of a century, the system would expand from those three cities to spread internationally, spreading to cover most of the railway industries in both Ceylonia and Ormatia, before eventually expanding to Porlos in 1953 and later Istrenya in 1982. Since 1899, freight lines operated under the Peninsular Railway banner were under contract with the Qabóri Trading Company, though this contractual agreement grew to allow other trading companies in the mid-20th century.

Peninsular Railway developed the first instances of high-speed rail in Crona, and the fast rate of which these lines were built made it the most extensive on the continent by the mid-2000s. As of 2038, 40% of passenger rail services operate via high-speed rail. The company is also responsible for developing high-speed railways in Ceylonia and Porlos, along with working towards expanding the network in Istrenya and Ormatia. Peninsular Railway maintains two major stations of which it is headquartered in; the Three Rivers Station in Taisgol, and the Willow National Station in Ambaqwe.

Every city in Mainland Tierrador is connected by freight and passenger rail

Mainland Tierrador

From its initial terminus' in Ambaqwe and Taisgol, the rail system in mainland Tierrador quickly grew since its beginnings in 1836. For most of its initial history, the system was concentrated in the northeast corridor of the country, connecting the industrialized and developed commonwealths of Las Rozas, Bogocía, Onancía, Tansher, Qaleqa, and the national capital to the agricultural and mineral extraction hubs of the southern, more sparse commonwealths of Auqali (independent at the time), Aracadó and Anbarsnia. As the southern areas followed into the industrialization process, around the late 1860s, Peninsular Railway expanded much deeper into those commonwealths, while expanding westward into Telohakee and Moscakee. Further expansion northwest into the Alcosk and Ulunkher Lands resulted in terminus stations established in Ominasky, Tarhogun, Anloiya, and Sevier.

While progress had been deterred due to the outbreaks of the Western Egg Wars and the Qabóri Succession War, along with political complications between the Western Republic, Peninsular Railway maintained a firm stance in southern expansion towards the cities of Winnecomac and Prisamarina. After the Western Republic fell and Alcosky and Ulunkheria were annexed into the Woqalate, the dream of southern expansion became reality for the Imperial Government, as a line connecting Sevier, Winnecomac, and Prisamarina was constructed along the border of Asteria. Around the beginning of the 20th century, Peninsular Railway had expanded to have passenger stations and services across nearly every major city in the 14 mainland commonwealths, with rail services in the more populated eastern half being a lot more dense to accommodate for those circumstances.

Rail travel would soon become overlooked as the air travel industry took off in popularity. Peninsular saw this as a new form of competition, and quickly went to work to develop a faster and more efficient way of rail travel in the mainland. The solution was the first high-speed rail line, constructed in 1957, running from Ambaqwe to Sačia. This form of transport was very successful, and Peninsular quickly became the popular method of transportation with the Walakee State, along with their dictator, Pedro Kintón. Kintón directed a good amount of funding towards developing high-speed rail throughout the mainland. Over the remainder of the 20th century onward to the 21st, high-speed rail lines connected just about every major city, and the ever-expanding network grew to have a sizable international presence.

Overseas Tierrador

Rail travel entered the realms of overseas Tierrador in the form of terminus settlements, initially beginning in the two island regions of Sonaxa and Tawakee. In 1867, both regions had constructed a ring railroad which surrounded their respective coastlines, and further lines branched off for better logistical ease. Peninsular's involvement in the islands played a key role in their eventual colonization by the Woqalate. Similar occurrences took place in Qabóri Polynesia, with the Teschego Frontier being deeply characterized by freight and passenger rail lines traversing the various winding rivers and massive mountain ranges of the Teschegan mainland. Similarly, Tapkoii had seen rail development of its own. However, due to it being but a small, sparsely-populated chain of islands in the Polynesian Sea, the most that could be developed without interfering in tribal lands or nature reserves were short passenger railroads surrounding the coastlines of three islands. The railways on the islands of Taseí and Auapka were recently developed into high-speed rail, which offered an alternative to the Autoróóts as the only transportation method on the islands.

Freight rail is not used in Tapkoii, only in Teschego, and the service there controlled by Tula'au Freight, named after the Tula'au o Tina Mountains which split Peratra down the middle. Tula'au Freight has freight lines that run to both Timbia and Samalosi from Teschego, which significantly increases the Woqalate's trade with Timbia and Castadilla. Tula'au Freight is a partial subsidiary of Peninsular Railway, with the remaining shares being owned by the Government of Teschego. Passenger rail services connect the cites of Tataía, Wapu'ana'asi, Apin Tascaí, Tellenets, and Ashburn, with the East Peratra Line running from the latter three down to Vailoatai, Samalosi, serving 3 million passengers per year. It is one of two high-speed rail lines in Teschego, the other going east-west connecting Apin Tascaí, Wapu'ana'asi, and Rakin, Timbia.

International

Peninsular begun international expansion in 1924, with the construction of two passenger lines running to Santa Maria, Ceylonia, the country's largest city. Just four years later, a line connecting Sevier, Ulunkheria to Tammat, Ormatia, was constructed as the second international endeavor for Peninsular. Over the next two decades, Peninsular would expand services throughout both regions, and the company would quickly become a staple of rail transport throughout South Crona, and would hold a monopoly over Tierradorian markets. In 1953, the Ormatian services would be expanded into Porlos, with lines connecting Tammat, Motiri, and Palúúhit to Pacuí, Anterii, and Naqili, the three largest cities in the Porlosi Woqalate.

Further expansion into the U.R. territories of Veraise and Betlands were planned in 1964, though political tensions brought upon by the Tierradorian invasion of Istrenya in the Mosquito War forced these plans to be delayed. Twelve years following the Mosquito War's end via the Dalton Accords, Peninsular Railway offered to assist the Istrenyan government in building up rail infrastructure throughout the country. While high-speed rail was taking off in the other four countries of service, Peninsular decided to hold off construction of high-speed lines in Istrenya due to the high cost and limited infrastructure capabilities of the Istrenyan government.
