The Tierrador Air Force (Qabóri: ᑎᖍᑫᐟ ᐊᐅᑲᐢᑐᐟ) is the main air service branch of the Tierradorian Defense Forces (TDF). It is one of the three main Forces, the other two being the Tierrador Army and Tierrador Navy, along with being a key service for the country's projection of air superiority. Split from the Qabóri Naval & Air Guard in 1930, the Tierrador Air Force's initial primary objectives were to maintain air security and superiority during the Second Great War, as the neutral power feared a surprise attack from both Alstin and the Cape. Since then, the Air Force had seen consistently sharp increases in its budget, and while it has the least amount of total enlisted personnel of the three main branches, it is considered one of the more prestigious service branches, second only to the Tierrador Navy.

About 34% of the TDF's budget is directed towards the Air Force. Due to this, the TAF is able to man a little over 2100 total aircraft, with the majority of that number being its impressive fleet of about 1350 fourth-generation fighters, mainly provided by Aquila Solutions. The stated mission of the Tierrador Air Force is "to provide an Air Force that is agile, adaptive, and fully capable of maintaining air superiority and security over Mainland and Overseas Tierrador, along with Tierrador's allies and vassals, while making decisive air power contributions in support of the defense missions of the Unified Tierradorian Defense Forces." The Tierrador Air Force is very adamant in its ambitions for power projection and superiority through air missions and aerospace defense.

The Tierrador Air Force features a total budget of $287.3 billion, and it maintains a fully operational and modern fleet of various different aircraft types, with the majority of these aircraft being produced within the borders of Tierrador. As of 2038, the Air Force's fixed-wing aircraft numbers include 1,355 fighter aircraft, 225 manned attack aircraft, 147 bomber aircraft, 95 airborne early warning and control aircraft, 125 unmanned attack aircraft, 105 transport aircraft, 54 refueling aircraft, along with 60 rotary-wing helicopters. Most of the Tierrador Air Force's aircraft and personnel are based in Mainland Tierrador, with international operations in Ceylonia, Porlos, and, more recently, Almadaria. The Air Force also stations personnel and aircraft in Tierradorian overseas holdings of Teschego and the Saukhin Islands.

History

Structure

Leadership

Because overall operations of the TDF, including the Air Force, are administrated by the Homeland Security Office, the Homeland Security Officer is the de facto highest ranking official of the Tierrador Air Force. Though the same can be said about the commander-in-chief, Woqali Mokhar III. The highest ranking official of the Tierrador Air Force is the Aokasmakosi, or in Ænglish, the Air Marshal. Currently, the Aokasmakosi rank is held by Yato Kolasari. Kolasari reports to the TDF's Chief of General Staff, currently General William Qançe. The Aokasmakosi also serves as the main chair of the Air Defense Board, the sub-agency under the Homeland Security Office that is responsible for aerospace defense in Mainland and Overseas Tierrador.

Engagements

The Tierrador Air Force has seen action in many different engagements. Often the first choice for the Woqali, the Air Force is most well-known for its initial airstrikes on strategically viable options. The first time the Air Force was mobilized was in the Sudmoll Island Conflicts, where numerous Aquila A-14 Lighter fighter jets were deployed over the Burgoignesc colonial holding of Sudmoll from the 1950s to 1990s, in order to provoke reactions from the Thalattocracy. An armed response only occurred once, with the 1984 Sudmoll Conflict resulting in the loss of two Burgoignesc fighters and one fighter and one manned attack aircraft from Tierrador.

The Air Force was also mobilized many times in the 1970s and 1980s. The Mosquito War between Tierrador and Istrenya, and later Kuronia, resulted in various airstrikes and surprisingly low air casualties from Tierrador. While that conflict ended in stalemate, the ensuing airstrike operations in the Songun Straits War against the Cape over Ceylonia proved to be victorious for the Tierrador Air Force, while the Walakee State's involvement in Operation Kipling was very limited at-first for the Air Force, but increased significantly after ground troops were pulled to fight back the attempted invasion of Tierrador by Asteria in the Cowboy Crisis. The Tierrador Air Force first used SBV-84 strategic bombers in 1982 against Asteria in the aforementioned crisis, dealing major damage to the cities of Concordia, Yarmouth, Fort Roseney, and Lahaska.

One of the most notable recent instances were the use of the newly-commissioned Aquila AB-44 Sweeper fighter-bombers in Operation Kraken, to launch devastating airstrikes to the Varshani cities of Okuhetl, Lu!ket, Pekkutl, Ketulbe, Tasult, and Me!kep, which dealt catastrophic damage to half of the Varshani Air Force reserves before they could even be mobilized. This gave Alstinian, Tierradorian, and Porlosi forces a major advantage in their ensuing ground offensives. Throughout the Operation, only 21 Tierradorian aircraft was lost, including 16 A-24 Phoenix fighter jets, 4 O-19 Warhammer attack jets, and 1 SBV-84 Spirit heavy bombers.

After the Deluge, the AB-44 Sweepers were used once again against Asteria in the Second Asterian Civil War, a direct response to the 2033 Winnecomac County Crisis. This time, only the cities of Fort Roseney and Lahaska were hit, but in a much more devastating manner to the cities. Over the course of the war, the Tierrador Air Force would be used the most. Currently, the Tierrador Air Force is engaged in the Central Vallosi War, on the side of Castadilla in their invasion of Valverdist Almadaria, following violent Almadarian offensives against Arona. AB-44 and SBV-84s were used to airstrike various military sites in northern Almadaria, while A-40 Kettekasat fighters have been dealing major damage to Almadarian aerospace resources.
