Xalesia had been split between Sarpic and Latin influence, with the Sarpic migration shaping its diverse population of the two major groups. As the Xalesian Kingdom, Xalesia regularly raided the Second Imperium, expanding its territory and sphere of influence to the surrounding Slavic kingdoms, all before the latter would be conquered and merged into the Odobriccid Kingdom in the 1170s. The Odobriccids were later conquered by the Third Imperium, and remained as a key Sarpic vassal for Caphiria. The dominance would only last for a few centuries, however, as the Sevtynid Kingdom collapsed in the 18th century as a result of the Fourth Imperium's reign over Caphiria. Xalesia remains as a Latin and Sarpic region.

Geography

Xalesia features diverse geography, with the eastern portions of the region being covered in highlands, which form the natural barrier between Xalesia, Greater Salesia, and Avamax; the western areas are more flat, with plains and grasslands covering the more populated side of the region. Xalesia features a 30-mile coastline on the Absurian Ocean, along with a massive share of the vast Lake Parima, where Xalesia's largest city is located. There are two major rivers; the Zbovuta River in the south and the Dimale River in the north.

Xalesia falls under three major climate zones: temperate continental in the south, subtropical dry summer in the center, it being the most common in Xalesia, and a semiarid steppe zone in the northwest border region. Xalesian summers run from December to February and are relatively warm, while winters run from June to Augusts and are mild in the central areas, but harsh in the northwest. Xalesia receives a yearly average of 655 millimeters of precipitation, almost entirely in the form of rainfall.
