Cinneadh[1], or Resolution, was a unique nuclear-powered submarine constructed from 1978-1981 by the Army Naval Service of Faneria. Developed in secret with oversight from Caphirian and Aeonaran-Kiravian engineers, Cinneadh was a practical research platform for nuclear power generation in submarines as well as indigenous design capabilities and stealth and detection features for the Fhainnin Army. The vessel was constructed with no torpedo armament and registered as a conventionally-powered cable-laying vessel, with an additional layer of false 'unofficial' registration as an intelligence-gathering vessel; however, it is believed by most historians that there was some understanding in Urcean intelligence circles that Faneria was developing nuclear power, if not weapons.

Service History

''Cinneadh'' undergoing midyear maintenance, 1982.

During its service, Cinneadh participated in mock ASW trials and stress trials, resulting in minor damage to its ballast control systems in 1982. Troubled performance of the nuclear reactor's Kiravian-inspired elements lead to the Fhainnin Army committing to a Caphiria-inspired reactor design in later classes, though Faneria and Kiravia would go on to jointly develop a class of nuclear-powered aircraft carrier in later decades. It also resulted in the award of future nuclear submarine contracts to Sae Breach Lahan and a nuclear engineering labor migration between companies, while Sethsport Shipyards United retained most of the contracts for deisel-electric development going forward.

Cinneadh was decommissioned shortly after intensive trials concluded in 1983, with disassembly being used to assess wear and tear as well as crew safety and disposal methodology for refuelling and decommissioning in future classes of nuclear-powered submarine. Parts of the hull plate were gifted to the Free Kiravian and Caphirian embassies in Oirthidún, and the Caphirian one remains on display. The Kiravian plate was moved to Kartika in 1986, shortly after Kiravian Reunification.
