  • Background

    - Vicar of the region refused to pay taxes to a Catholic monarch and claimed the recently ousted Barh-Màrtainns were the legitimate rulers of Fhainnaeran

(Barh-Màrtainns later come back in the Sutharine Succession Crisis)

    Initial Engagements

    Siege of Kurikila

Sacking or Kurikila and Battle of White Marsh

    Factors in the Outcome

    - Royal Army had contemporarily modern guns, cannon, and dedicated engineering and shock/cavalry units with decent command and control for the period

    - Vicarial troops were roughly able to fight back on equal terms but feudal troops were hot garbage and militias got in the way with constant accusations of heresy and the Lord Protector trying to summon an angel to wipe out the Catholic forces instead of leading; Kurikila was also not a strategic city given its distance from major land borders with foreign nations and as a result had outdated defenses with numerous gaps. Protestant forces also had a serious lack of cannon, and the Vicar alienated a large portion of his vassals, some of which got his land after the fact

    Aftershocks and Modern Impact

    - Kurikila is a minor city and never quite recovered

    - Effectively killed Protestantism as a major faith group in the upper class in southern Fhainnaeran; eventually Protestantism was largely relegated to a very minor part of the culture save for in Lyukquar which nobody cared about because they paid their taxes, were far from the central gov't, and did the appropriate ass-kissing

    - created a refugee crisis of Fhainn Protestants
