Cartadania, officially known as the Federative Republic of Cartadania (Cartadanian: República Federativa da Cartadania), is a sovereign country located on the Caridon Peninsula of Sarpedon, with territories spanning across the globe. Bordered by Caphiria along its only land borders, the country has an area of 4,122,251 square kilometers (1,591,610 sq mi), making it the fifth-largest nation in the world. With a population of approximately 378 million people, it is the second-most populous nation in Sarpedon and ninth worldwide. Cartadania's largely tropical climate features Mediterranean zones, particularly in the sheltered bays, which are tempered by cooler coastal currents, tributaries, and the Carina Bay. In addition to its mainland territories, Cartadania also includes insular areas near Crona, such as the state of Solemia, and Polynesia, including the state of Lotoa, as well as Alshar, with the territory of Haujão. The country also has territories in Sarpedon, including Providência, Santa Domenica, and Santa Elena.

Cartadania is a high-income, highly developed country that owes its success to a robust mixed economy and strong economic growth over the years. Its large size has allowed it to maintain stability in the region, and its citizens enjoy a very high level of human development, including the second-longest life expectancy in the world, surpassed only by Burgundie. Cartadania is a major player in global economic, military, cultural, and diplomatic affairs, and is widely considered a global power. As of 2032, the country's economy is the fourth-largest in the world by both nominal GDP and GDP (PPP), with a total value of approximately $28.5 trillion. The country's economy is also one of the world's fastest-growing major economies, due in large part to reduced barriers to entry in the economy and relaxing tax laws. The national development bank of Cartadania plays an essential role in the country's economic growth, and its diplomatic outreach and support programs to help emerging and young economies have earned it worldwide recognition.

Cartadania has played a key role in the formation and membership of various international organizations, including ARGUS, the Community of Lusophone Nations, the League of Nations, and the Union of Sarpedonian States. Additionally, the country was also a member of the now-defunct Levantia and Odoneru Treaty Association. As a great power in Sarpedon, Cartadania asserts its global influence and is viewed by some analysts as having the potential to attain superpower status in the future. Moreover, Cartadania is renowned as a major breadbasket, being a leading producer of crops such as coffee, oranges, and sugarcane, particularly in its more agrarian south. In fact, the country has held the title of the world's largest coffee producer for at least the past 270 years. These agricultural industries have played a significant role in the country's economic growth and international trade relationships.

Cartadania's diverse cultural heritage reflects influences from various groups, including indigenous peoples, Latin settlers, Taínean migrants, and immigrants from Crona and the Polynesian Sea. This has resulted in one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse countries in the world at the personal level, while still maintaining a distinctive national identity overall. As one of the world's 17 megadiverse countries, Cartadania boasts a rich biodiversity, with its territory encompassing the Satherian rainforest, tropical grassland, and coastlines along several major seas as well as high-altitude areas with markedly cooler climates. Its dense biodiversity makes it one of the most biodiverse countries per square kilometer in the world. (Full article...)

Cartadanian culture is an intricate tapestry woven from the historical legacies of diverse civilizations, reflecting a fusion of early influences from northern insular Sarpedon and the Latinic Empire, as well as indigenous roots. The intricate interplay of these historical threads has shaped the rich cultural landscape that defines modern Cartadania. Central to Cartadanian cultural heritage is the intersection of ancient Adonerii civilizations, from which the Latinic Empire emerged, and the vibrant tapestry of Taínean cultures from the West. This cultural confluence has bequeathed Cartadania with a multi-layered historical foundation, infusing its artistic expressions, traditions, and societal values. The post-Latinic empire era witnessed Cartadania's endeavor to construct a pluralistic political framework, bridging conservative and liberal ideologies, albeit amid challenges. This transformative period was characterized by debates between advocates of Catholic Church involvement in state affairs, reflecting conservative sentiments, and proponents of a separation between church and state, echoing liberal perspectives.

The multifaceted fabric of Cartadanian culture is further enriched by the contributions of diverse immigrant communities, including those from Caphirian, Cronan, Pelaxian, and other origins. The indigenous population and the Cronan community have significantly influenced the evolution of Cartadanian cuisine, music, dance, and religious practices, amplifying the vibrancy of cultural expressions. Distinguished elements of Cartadanian culture encompass its captivating art forms, melodious music, distinctive fashion sensibilities, and iconic gastronomy. The realm of dramatic arts has a historical affinity for comedy, with Cartadania giving birth to the Comédia de arte improvisational style during the mid-16th century—a tradition that continues to thrive in contemporary performances, mirroring the enduring appeal of humor in Cartadanian theatrical narratives. Considered a major occidental country, its complex culture and traditions have been reflected and adopted in various other places throughout history. (Full article...)

The Erudite University of Alahuela (Erudite) is a public research university in Alahuela, the capital city of Cartadania. Established in 1310, Erudite is the oldest institution of higher education in Cartadania and has the largest enrollment of any university in Sarpedon. The University is one of the most prestigious Cartadanian universities and in the world, commonly ranking first in national rankings and in Northern Sarpedon. It is located on a sprawling campus that occupies the entirety of the University quarter in the Giulia district of the city, approximately 16.05 square kilometres (6.20 sq mi)

Having been established so early on, Erudite was the primary place of education for many Caphirians in the northern imperium after its establishment and even moreso after Cartadania was formed. The university played a major role in setting the curricular pace within Cartadania, and other large universities (primarily those in Alexandria, Santiago, Verona, and Victoria) follow a model similar to Erudite.
