Burgundie and Canespa have maintained formal relations since the early 1700s when merchant explorers from the Veraise colony came in contact with coastal settlements in Canespa.

During that time, the Veraise colony traded with Canespa for food stuffs and potatoes, a stable food staple that transported well. The trade route and relations cooled when the Veraise colony was sold to Ehemo in 1812. After the First Fratricide (1848-1875), Burgundie and Canespa reengaged in relations and Burgundie started carrying many of Canespa's goods, but especially potatoes, all over the world.

1923 Treaty of Foxhey, the Port Extranjero was given to the nation of Burgundie. It occupies 7,500 acres (3,000 ha) of land and water with 43 miles (69 km) of waterfront. The port's channel depth is 16 m (53 feet). The port has 25 cargo terminals, 82 container cranes, 8 container terminals, and 182 km (113 miles) of on-dock rail. Promoted as the "Gateway to the Cusinaut", the port is located in Verduras Bay, approximately 22.5 km (14 miles) west of downtown Extranjero. The port was initially opened on December 9, 1926, after 3 years of construction. The land the port is built on was given to Burgundie under the provisions of the Treaty of Foxhey, in 1923 which exchanged the land to Burgundie in exchange for security guarantees and protection for Canespa.

Starting in the 1990s and continuing today Burgundie and Canespa have also concluded a number of high profile arms deals. In 1996, Burgundie bought 3 AMY-82s from Yonderre and sold them to Canespa for field testing. In 1998, the Canespan's adopted the AMY-82s and bought 15 more of them from Yonderre through Burgundie. That same year Burgundie sold Canespa 2 each, Tiger attack helicopters and Tucanos for training and evaluation. In 2000, the Tiger attack helicopter and Tucano were adopted and Canespa purchased 18 of each. In 2012, Canespa bought 10 more AMY-82s for a total of 28 and 6 more Tiger attack helicopters for a total of 26. In 2022, Burgundie bought back the Tucanos to be sold to an Audonian power, in exchange for 14 Super Tucanos. In 2025, Burgundie sold Canespa 27 more AMY-82, for a total of 55.

Port Extranjero

Per the 1923 Treaty of Foxhey, the land that Port Extranjero was built on was given to the nation of Burgundie, for the construction and maintenance of a port capable of bringing the goods of Canespa to the world.

Iles Evangeline

History

The Isles Evangeline Project was started in 2031 to the request of Burgundie. The project has been in development ever since and 1500 Canespian farmers have been sent to the Iles.

Deal

The deal of Evangeline was commenced in October of 2030 and the first movements of the project were made in March of 2031. The deal consisted of a 10 year plan where Canespian farmers are to be sent out to train and teach the population of the Iles, while also developing the overall agriculture industry. In exchange the Canasta Company has been promised a 15% share of all crops produced in the Iles while the deal is in place while a 4% share of all crops will continue after the Canasta Company has exited the land.

2034 Port Extranjero closure

Port closed for a few days by Canespa formally ending 300 years of amicable relations between Burgundie and Canespa. The Navy of Burgundie sent a fleet, ensuring the sovereignty of the island and formal talks started anew to reset relations.
